Holding onto traditions or culture that are unethical, inhumane, and torture is ludicrous. Now being irrational and extremist is different. But changing things for the better is necessary. Foie Gras may taste great, but there are lots of foods that taste great. It's the cooking and seasoning that makes it good. You would not eat it raw. If animals are here for our consumption, why do you keep them in your house? Do you have pets? Eat them out of your own selfishness, pretend they weren't alive.
