No actually Bert and Ernie are not brothers. They are roomates and best friends. If you watch other routines uploaded onto You Tube, you will find various characters who are related to one of them and not the other. Sometimes one will introduce a relation to the other for the first time. However, the issue of whether they are homosexual lovers is something that has been debated since the dawn of "Sesame Street" history!

Ernie appears often enough, and when Steve isn't available to do the actual performing, they just pre-record his voice and match it to the Ernie and Bert's Great Adventures clips. Kids love those.

1. Elmo is eating up the entire show, Kevin Clash like RL is talented but he has so many other characters than the little red menace.

2. I think it wasn't Rick's personal choice to leave, he quit because Joe Mazzarino fired him.

3. That lecherous leech of a songwriter, Jeff Marx seduced him with promises of fame and fortune, and Rick sold his soul for it, which is why he moved away to NJ

@muppetlover16 *cough* The reason why Elmo is 'eating' the entire show is simply because the other performers were leaving. They had to get new Muppateers. Elmo was thrust into the spotlight, and kids loved him. Sesame Street needed that influx of money- since they're a non-profit organization, most of their money comes from merchandise, and Elmo merchandise sells like hotcakes. If you'd look at today's Sesame Street Elmo has slowly been dropping off, but he's still needed.

@vampirealdys I was thinking the same thing regarding "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon" or even "Imagine That". I've always preferred Jim Henson's Ernie as I found Steve Whitmire didn't seem to take the character back into these deep meaningful moments anymore and Ernie's thoughtful sweet childlike curousity was/is an important part of the character. Nice to see a meaningful song done that can hold it's own against classics like the others. Bravo Steve!
