@pingufan11 Sometimes at night, when I look up high, I see a falling star in the sky, and I wonder how, and I wonder why. What makes a falling star go by?
Why does it fall, and where does it go? ...and how does it make that glittery glow?
I'm gonna find out 'cause I want to know and I wonder. I wonder.
Sometimes I watch a bumblebee fly from rose to rose on a day in July. ...and I wonder how, and I wonder why. What makes a bumblebee go by?
How does he fly all covered in fuzz? ...and how does >>>
Yeah, this is pretty darn good for such a new S.S. song. It's not often that I save a clip this new to my favorites, but not often is a long way from never.
light is faster than sound Ernie, wait why am i posting this, why am i watching this i'm in high school, oh well while i'm here, ERNIE< GOOGEL IS YOUR FWENED
The fact that light is faster than sound was the first thing that I thought of when I heard him sing that verse. However, I find your response to be quite humorous!
I agree that "Sesame Street" is a great show and should be available to children for years to come! I just wish that it could go back to being more like it once was! I find the stuff that they have on now to be quite boring! Especially "Elmo's World"! Now that is not to say that I have anything against the character of Elmo himself.
You're right...but I still think SS gradually started to implode when Jim passed away...and he would surely raise a stink if he saw what SS has become today -- Elmo Street :(
u Facknut i will report ur all videos all milly fans will report ur videos as animal abuse because u start the war with milly u start with us GOT THAT FAT HOBO?!
What's sad is that while I watched this with the kids I was babysitting, I realized that I have a scientific answer for every single one of Ernie's questions.
Good for you, but you failed to see the point. He's instigating the need to question, and if we do so, instead of feeding children with false beliefs and bullshit on every corner we might be putting our feet in mars in a near future.
@amazinglyuncreative that's not sad at all! That's a great thing to share with the kids you're watching or any kids you're around in future, it's amazing how much they understand!
While we are on the topic of things that we wonder, I wonder why a nice guy like me does not have a wife who looks like Helen Hunt or Lea Thompson! I think I deserve it!
No actually Bert and Ernie are not brothers. They are roomates and best friends. If you watch other routines uploaded onto You Tube, you will find various characters who are related to one of them and not the other. Sometimes one will introduce a relation to the other for the first time. However, the issue of whether they are homosexual lovers is something that has been debated since the dawn of "Sesame Street" history!
@Theboxofme Steve and Eric filmed a street story starring them, but it may not air until season 43. Steve doesn't like in NYC and he has limited time with the new movie coming up.
For all his annoying pranks towards Bert, it's great to see Sesame Workshop keeping Ernie's curious and reflective side alive in this song. Thank you!
@musicbox193 You're half correct. This first aired in December, so it's long after Google. And yeah, Google as the answer isn't the point of the song.
@MarshalGrover I get it Marshal, but Bert and Ernie are a team, they always manage to sing together somehow. also "I wonder" If Steve Whitmire is busy with the muppets why don't they hire an alternate? I was thinking either Rick Lyon or Artie Esposito (no offense to SW) I'm sure one of them could do a decent Ernie voice.
@MarshalGrover I know that Marshal, I was just making a suggestion, I know Rick doesn't work on SS anymore but I wish hedid, besides the man's been gone for 15 years, and Steve Whitmire has such a limited schedule, we haven't heard from John Tartaglia, so are we just going to let Ernie fade into obscurity? hmm? I say bring in Artie Esposito, if he can do Kermit why not Ernie?
@muppetlover16 The thing is: Ernie ISN'T fading into obscurity. Sesame Workshop wouldn't let that happen. Ernie appears often enough, and when Steve isn't available to do the actual performing, they just pre-record his voice and match it to the Ernie and Bert's Great Adventures clips. Kids love those.
Stop panicking and suggesting Rick Lyon take over characters.
@StudPuppetsInc Sorry, I understand but I think the Rickster doesn't get enough recognition, if it annoys you just tell me so don't rant like MarshalGrover does
@muppetlover16 The reason he doesn't get any recognition is because he doesn't work for the Muppets OR Sesame Street anymore and when he did, he never had any major characters. Avenue Q is pretty much the only big thing he's done, and I'm not sure he even does that anymore either.
I know u like him a lot, and that's cool. But it is kinda annoying when you go on about him and act like people are bashing him for not giving him recognition for... nothing.
@StudPuppetsInc I'll tell you why he don't get the respect he deserves, it's for three reasons
1. Elmo is eating up the entire show, Kevin Clash like RL is talented but he has so many other characters than the little red menace.
2. I think it wasn't Rick's personal choice to leave, he quit because Joe Mazzarino fired him.
3. That lecherous leech of a songwriter, Jeff Marx seduced him with promises of fame and fortune, and Rick sold his soul for it, which is why he moved away to NJ
@StudPuppetsInc I heard somewhere Jeff Marx worked for SS's music department, but he was fired for being too "uppity" so JM fired him, I think that happened with Rickly too, and thus Marx,Lopez and Lyon created Avenue Q as revenge on CTW, heck they shoulda called it "How to rip off Sesame Street and make lotsa money without even trying"
@muppetlover16 Ok... I think you are WAY overreacting. But whatever. Lets just end the discussion here, ok? Calm down. Breathe a little. What's done is done and there's nothing you or I can do about it.
@StudPuppetsInc OH YES THERE IS, my Youtube friends antsampthompson9, Angie2343, and I have formed the Lovers of Lyon coalition, and we will do what ever it takes to get Rick Lyon to work on SS again, even if we have to fly to New Jersey and beg him to come back...will YOU join the coalition? and combat the evil that is political correctness? If not you are anti-Lyon like my nemesis medopaul1000
@muppetlover16 Well, that's probably what you'll have to do. So I hope you saved enough for plane tickets.
No, I will NOT join your coalition to "combat the evil that is political correctness". I will support you in saying "go for it" but I'm not going anywhere. And I'm not an "anti-Lyon". I just don't want to bother the man. I'm sure he left Sesame Street for a valid reason, whether it involved quitting or being fired. So go ahead and hate me if you want to, but I sure hope you don't.
@StudPuppetsInc Relax man I didn't mean all that stuff I said, that's just one of my many dramatic speeches for "Lovers of Lyon" I don't hate you, and I definately don't wanna bother that poor old man (Rick is probably in his late 50's now) I'm sure he enjoys living in New Jersey, but if he had the chance he'd probably say "I don't have time for Sesame Street, but if that's what you really want...then OK!
@muppetlover16 Well, i think you need to stop giving your dramatic speeches. People will think you're insane. I DO think you're insane. So... yeah. Just a heads up.
@muppetlover16 *cough* The reason why Elmo is 'eating' the entire show is simply because the other performers were leaving. They had to get new Muppateers. Elmo was thrust into the spotlight, and kids loved him. Sesame Street needed that influx of money- since they're a non-profit organization, most of their money comes from merchandise, and Elmo merchandise sells like hotcakes. sesame street tests sesame street with younger audiences and studies show that kids nowadays like elmo and murray more than the count and oscar and bert and ernie
Despite I would much prefer the music of classic Sesame Street, the content of this song touches me, and if it touches everyone else it could really save the world. I hope it does!
@katzente This song almost reminds me of "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon" with its poignancy. So sweet, and I think this is definately a song that Jim Henson would have done, may he rest in peace.
@vampirealdys I was thinking the same thing regarding "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon" or even "Imagine That". I've always preferred Jim Henson's Ernie as I found Steve Whitmire didn't seem to take the character back into these deep meaningful moments anymore and Ernie's thoughtful sweet childlike curousity was/is an important part of the character. Nice to see a meaningful song done that can hold it's own against classics like the others. Bravo Steve!
@MarshalGrover Sesame Street deserves ANY Daytime Emmys at all. Seriously, if that show were eligible for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama, they'd totally beat the pants off of Susan Lucci.
This ranks up there with I dont want to live on the moon. I am so happy that Sesame Street is still able to create classic songs after all these years.
@JeffreyDMiller I would say it is the complete opposite. Ernie is expressing his desire for knowledge and how the universe works. He really wants to understand everything. ICP is glorifying ignorance by claiming that all these interesting things are done by a god, no need to ask questions or turn to science for answers.
@Numfarh Your name should be Dumfart. Athiests are deluded and eternally condemnned. Your responses and attacks won't change this. Enjoy your stupidity while you can.
@SchmoozeMinkey Thanks for your delightful comments. I shall take it into account next time I try to express my opinions. I should have simply expressed my love for an inquisitive mind instead of pointing out how moronic ICP is.

@pingufan11 >>> and how does he make that buzz that he does? I'm sure it's more than "just because" and I wonder. I wonder.
How does a bunny hop, hop, hop? ...and what makes popcorn pop, pop, pop?
Why does the rain fall drop by drop and the lightning always come before the thunder. I wonder.
Do you ever wonder as you walk along, "What makes a tiny little ant so strong?"
Does every bird sing a different song? Do you wonder why?
Well, so do I.
So do I.

@neocelestia
You have just offered us viewers a lot of interesting food for thought! And, buy the way, "Imagine That" is one of my favorites!

@Smartboy8877 Oh, it's one of mine too, defintely! I'm 35 and forever an Ernie fan :)

@neocelestia
I am forty-two and Ernie was one of my favorite growing up! I still have a lot of very fond memories of the show in general and him in particular!

@katzente Definitely prefer classics such as 'I Don't Want to Live on the Moon', but this is cute too. I love Ernie.

I hope this wins that Daytime Emmy Award for Best Children's Song; it completely deserves it.

@MarshalGrover Sesame Street deserves ANY Daytime Emmys at all. Seriously, if that show were eligible for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama, they'd totally beat the pants off of Susan Lucci.

@Fragglevision That is why Sesame Street isn't in the Daytime Schmmies... to give Susan Lucci a chance.

This ranks up there with I dont want to live on the moon. I am so happy that Sesame Street is still able to create classic songs after all these years.

It's like a much sweeter version of that ICP song "Miracles".
JeffreyDMiller 8 months ago
@JeffreyDMiller I would say it is the complete opposite. Ernie is expressing his desire for knowledge and how the universe works. He really wants to understand everything. ICP is glorifying ignorance by claiming that all these interesting things are done by a god, no need to ask questions or turn to science for answers.

@Numfarh Your name should be Dumfart. Athiests are deluded and eternally condemnned. Your responses and attacks won't change this. Enjoy your stupidity while you can.
SchmoozeMinkey 8 months ago
@SchmoozeMinkey Thanks for your delightful comments. I shall take it into account next time I try to express my opinions. I should have simply expressed my love for an inquisitive mind instead of pointing out how moronic ICP is.

Nice song. It reminds me a bit of "I don't want to live on the moon". Both are classics.

Ernie can see rooftops from his window, yet the windows are supposed to behind the dumpster wall in front of 123.
