Hey everybody - I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains upbeat electronic music (and ambient songs) heavily inspired by the music of Rob Dougan. If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .
Yeah it is epic. But, I too wonder, seriously, what is this genre, like literally? Songs like this have much more to them, and I have always been wondering is there a genre for music like this.
"Rob Dougan, is a genre-blending music composer. Mixing elements of orchestral music, trip hop, and bluesy vocals, his work is tangentially relatable to electronic music"
What...........the............fuck? I hope his uncle is dead and frying in a lava pit down below. I love his music but could always sense something deeper behind some of his songs.
i much prefer this type of song to the modern day gangsta crap... it has meaning and feeling unlike " yoyoyo i smokes some grass and fuck a bitch in the ass"
Check out some of Clint Mansel's music, it's very similar and you might like it. My personal favorite is lux aeterna, it's music coming straight from God's iPod, Clint Mansel is a thief...
@yellowmetalcyborg Lux Aeterna is an amazing piece. I strongly recommend it. I also recommend watching Requiem for a Dream, since that's what he wrote the piece for.
@bigmaantings Screamo I agree is just as bad and honestly death metal as well. Rob takes the beauty of humanity and brings it in audio digestible form ;)

So much emotion, pain, anguish and frustration. Why people can't make music like this nowadays escapes me- all that comes out of America these days seems to be Akon, Lady Gaga and the Jonas Brothers.
The thing is that music that's heartfelt is difficult to find because not everyone enjoys it. Half the fun of finding this kind of music is -finding- it.
@1393N You just need to look in the right places. Try Portishead's old stuff, like numb or Only You. Try other genres entirely, like Royksopp, Katatonia or OSI.
It could also be somewhat attributed to music companies only investing heavily in acts that are guaranteed to make big bucks for them - these will often be formulaic, bland and appealing to the lowest common denominator. It would be nice to see one of these record companies be brave and actively try to market stuff like this song - they don't seem to realise the potential market they are missing out on...
@1393N Do you think Akon, Lady Gaga and the Jonas Brothers are put upon by chance ? Connect the dots and everyone will understand - Look towards the one eye triangle.
@2kmarine No I don't, otherwise I would be commenting on 'my chemical romance' or some other gay emo band, not rob dougan. I just think this guy's a genius.
@1393N Check Lady gaga's early work (''Lady gaga beofre she was famous'' video). She IS an artist. And nowadays her teledisc are kinda freaky and original. I thought she's just another Britney, but I'm impressed.
Talking about Rob Dougan, I really like his album, I've listened to it a lot. and it always gave me the impression that he must have suffered a lot in his life, otherwise he wouldn't be able to make such music..
Yeah all that shitty garbage music that the lost brainwashed youth consumed...It's a Zionist controlled music industry who effort is to degenerate the population via trashy music. Trashy music produces trashy minds.
@1393N If everyone was as talented as Rob D, perfection would be the industry standard. It's kind of hard to sell things with the pitch "This song is as amazing as every other song on the planet."
@1393N people do still make music that capitalizes on emotions and actually does what music is supposed to do, invoke intense feelings one way or another. Only thing is most of it is left underground because it doesn't fulfill the "woohoo!" and "omg" factors that the media manipulates into being popular to keep the money in one, easy to produce, simple and profitable area. Bizarrely however, if you listen to advertisments, good music is still used in a lot, makes the product sell better.
@1393N Akira Yamamoka makes similar music to this, he's the composer of the silent hill games and movie. Mary-Elizabeth mcglin is the vocals. Rob and Akira should work together in one song they are the greateset.
@RazielGardel I know right sadly club konami got a new composer who does the music for the new silent hill game. His name is Brain somthing... Man it would be a dream come true for Rob and Akira to do music together.
@babe998 DAMN!!! Akira is not in the SH8 Soundtrack??? It sucks big time! And Mary Elizabeth McGlynn... She is the soul of SH music! She is the very best female voice I ever heard (and Rob D is the best male voice, for sure). They both together would be SO great... too epic for this world.
Sonic aah, you make love to me, take me fast to loverland. Blue master take me now, remove my pants and put me down. Love my ass like your own super fast fucker of the gloryhole.
@1393N Music like Jona's Brothers or Justin bibiers makes look glorious this kind of music. I think we should thank them to do such a horrible music to listen and appreciate this music as a good piece of art.
@1393N Whats sad is plenty of people can, we just live in a world where the media dictates what we listen to.Its as though people are conditioned to think they appreciate the emotionless shite they reel out.
@1393N fight the machine....we make this country what it is...boycott the radio stations and they wont play that shit anymore. are we that afraid that we forgot that boycotting works? :)
a song where we don't quite grasp the entirety of his message, it is veiled deep beneath the enthralled emotion he scoops in front of our gleaming eyes.
is there an instrumental version?

@1393N

It's kind of hard to sell things with the pitch "This song is as amazing as every other song on the planet."
inventiveinsanity 1 year ago

@babe998 That would be EPIC!!!

@1393N Music like Jona's Brothers or Justin bibiers makes look glorious this kind of music. I think we should thank them to do such a horrible music to listen and appreciate this music as a good piece of art.

@1393N Whats sad is plenty of people can, we just live in a world where the media dictates what we listen to.Its as though people are conditioned to think they appreciate the emotionless shite they reel out.

a song where we don't quite grasp the entirety of his message, it is veiled deep beneath the enthralled emotion he scoops in front of our gleaming eyes.
