  • We are probably safer eating roadside, polluted burdock than most of the poisons the Medical Mafia are trying to push on us!

  • Hey where are you located? I ate the root it's delicious. I wanted to find more people that want to go foraging with me in NYC.

  • Regarding the warning to never eat anything unless you check with an expert first: What if you don't have access to an expert? I once read that tribal medicine men (or women) would test any new plant in steps as follows, only continuing to next step if there is no adverse reaction: 1) Rub a portion on top of palm > 2) Rub on skin on inside wrist (over veins) > 3) Rub under nose > 4) Tiny taste on tongue > 5) One small bite > 6) Eat it! This could take many days to fully test a new plant, tho.

  • I just put the disclaimer so no one can blame me if their experience differs from mine. I'm not an expert. I learned by reading books, notably Stalking the Wild Asparagus by Euell Gibbons. Anyone can learn these things. Just learn one plant at a time and only experiment when you are 100 percent certain of the plant's ID and are 100 percent comfortable with trying it. I've only been foraging for the past year and a half and I've already learned between 50 and 100 plants.
