wow. How great this guys knows which passages are false and which are to be accepted. I used to be so foolish as to think that the whole of the Bible was God's word. Now I am free to do whatever I want, and claim the verses opposing my wishes are false verses! Whew, does that ever feel better! Next stop? Hell!
Great video. Could you provide me with some resources with which I can do my own study on these variants, interpolations, and contradictions? Thank you.
TO the one who did this video,1st corinthians chapter 14 this whole chapter is teaching about Prophecy, speaking in tongues & edification of the church. If you start at verse 34 & stop at 35 then you missed the REST of the story, what do you think the question marks are there for?WHAT? did you think the word of GOD came unto you only? OR OUT of you only?these 3 question marks change the whole thing.
The Bible in no way shape form or fashion is a contradiction. Listen to what brother Paul says. His writings is hardcore and we need to follow those writings and separate ourselves from the world. A man can't have long hair. A woman can not cut her hair. A woman can not preach but she can have the gift of prophecy. Gift of prophecy is not apart of the five fold ministry. I say this not to throw obstacles but we need to listen to what brother Paul says.
1st corinthians 11;16 If it causes contention, we have no such customs. PLEASE don` t stop reading till your satisfied, read till you find the truth & the whole story.
in my experience, both prayer and prophecy can be done in silence.
I'm pretty sure God wants both men and women to speak out in church. Jesus never seemed to care about gender. It was most likely a cultural thing, or an instruction to a specific situation, neither of which means we should follow literally what this passage says,
unfortunately, this video seems to be another great adventure in missing the point.
Your experience is not that of antiquity. In antiquity prayer and prophecy were down out loud in church. Please consult the excerpt to the right. Jesus may not have cared about gender, but those that corrupted the New Testament did. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 is a corruption added at a later date.
I still don't see how you can call it a 'corruption'. So what if it wasn't Paul who wrote it? If you're going to discredit any part of the bible which isn't written by Paul ('cos clearly he was the only person God could ever speak through), then there's not going to be an awful lot left
you still haven't responded to what I think is the flaw in your argument - why does something have to have been written by Paul for it to be the word of God?
Paul must have been aware of Jesus' miracles - he refers to them when talking to the crowd in Acts 2 (v22) - 'God publicly endorsed Jesus the Nazarene by doing powerful miracles, wonders, and signs through him, as you well know'(NIV). I believe he doesn't refer to them in his letters as they are to advise, and knowledge would be assumed.
Flaw in my argument? I make no argument, I am visualizing what Academia has found. Again read the text excerpts. As per Paul in Acts, those are not Paul's word. Speeches in books in antiquity were simply a literary tool used by writers to "tell" history. Westwood One was not there recording Paul's words. That's why Paul sounds like Peter and vice versa in Acts, because neither is speaking, it's the voice of the author. The author of Acts is telling history through speeches that were never given.
You've reached a conclusion - that there are 'corruptions' in the bible - therefore you are making an argument. My counter argument is that just because something was not written by Paul, it doesn't make it 'corrupt' and therefore invalid.
Re:speeches -assuming that nothing recorded as a quote in the bible was literally spoken, it's possible to question whether Paul mentioned miracles in Acts 2, but also possible to question whether miracles were mentioned at other times which weren't recorded
There are old manuscripts and there are oldER manuscripts. When words, entire verses are in the old manuscripts, but not the oldER manuscripts, that is a corruption. A corruption is a modification of the original manuscript/book. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 is a corruption, a later addition to the manuscript, added by someone other than Paul. That is a corruption.
As per your second statement (re:Acts 2), you're offering a lack of evidence as possible evidence. Brilliant.
I agree that a manuscript being added to is a corruption of the validity of the script itself. If Paul's letters were words literally from God, then the later additions would certainly be a corruption of what God was trying to communicate.
My point is that since the words Paul wrote weren't literally from the mouth of God, but inspired by him, there's nothing to say that any words later added by someone else weren't also inspired by God.
Jesus believed the end of the world was coming in his lifetime, and a coming kingdom would be established on earth. And in that kingdom, there would be no sexes - no male, no female. Because Jesus believed the kingdom would arrive at any moment, he believed his followers should already act as if the kingdom had arrived with no class distinction between male & female. That's why there was such an appeal for women in the early Jesus movement. They were treated as equals.
But, once Jesus passed along, the coming kingdom did not arrive, steps were taken to put women back in their place (so to speak). The corruption of 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 served that purpose.
You're offering arguments based on nothing. You say, you'll pick up the book if you have time, but you seem to have all the time in the world to offer unschooled observations. It'd be much more enjoyable for me if you knew the subject you were arguing against. All hail Academia!
lmao! If the prayer and prophecy talked about here were done silently, there would not have been any controversy about women doing it! (Feminine silent prayer is found in the story of 1 Sam. 1:13...obviously a very orthodox perspective.)
Can't claim it's the word of god if it's been corrupted by man. Thus we get various orthodox, "study bible" interpretations that can out hurdle the best Olympians.
Pauls command here is the subject of much debate for it seems to contradict the fact that Paul spoke of women prophesying in 11:5. It has been suggested that Paul was addressing a particular problem in the Corinthian church, a group of women who were disruptive. This verse has also been interpreted as a prohibition on women interpreting prophecy, judging the prophets, or speaking in tongues.

I have a list of recommended books and summaries on my site, Church Across America com. Click on the stack of books...
Of course, Bart Ehrman's "Misquoting Jesus" is a great book for any NT scholar beginner.

"..then there's not going to be an awful lot left."
You said it, not me, but I shall agree. Some other corruptions for you to chew on:
-the last 12 verses of the Gospel of Mark (16:9-20)
-the famous story of the woman taken in adultery ("Ye without sin may cast the first stone") in John 7:53-8:11
-Jesus' bloody sweat in Luke 22:44
And why is Paul completely unaware of any of the Jesus miracle stories? Never mentions any of the stories. Not once.

re:acts 2 - I'm not offering a lack of evidence as evidence, I'm saying that lack of evidence is exactly that - impossible to proove anything from.
Without knowing for certain what Paul *exactly* said, it's impossible to conclude that a certain topic was or wasn't mentioned.

I AM NOT attacking, please just give me your insight.
I stole that quote from the
Tommy Nelson. The Nelson Study Bible. United States of America. 1997. (page 1935-1936)
I only put that because it is from a historians point of view. Definitely biased but still a historian.
