Damn it they should remove these videos....the improves in the GX are done and its better than ever actually i bought myself a 2012 GX and its outstanding in everything !!!
Here's an idea. If you're brain dead enough to need stability control why not take up something other than driving? Unsafe because a computer doesn't bail you out? Who makes these things up? This is just as stupid as that fat guy winning a lawsuit against mcdonalds.
Really this world needs a wake up call. So many stupid people who don't like having to think for themselves.
After all this trash talk about toyota. I still went out and bought one. Personally I don't think it's hurting toyota any with all this stupid media. When watching this video I thought the lexus was going to rollover, but it didn't. Looks pretty safe to me. Nice try tho.
Consumer reports CEO drives a Lexus GX460 he wanted to be the only one driving one, and thats the only way he thought of keeping other from buying it!
since when was stability control a requirement.. the car didn't spin out. or flip over like a jeep or tahoe would on dry pavement. any car spins out when you go to fast.
Looks like CR is trying to up their subscriptions by promoting another false report on rollovers (just as they did, and were caught doing it, with the Suzuki Samurai. CR settled out of court with Suzuki over that one. CR is a joke.
If you remember something similar was claimed about the Ford Explorer many years ago, which resulted in a recall involving tires and some claimed instability in the vehicle. I would not put much credence into anything Al Gore says. How do you know it's only in the US? The Japanese government is so tied to their car companies they could be suppressing any problems there. Looks like a stability control problem we will see.
Don't blame GM for this, it has nothing to do with them. Consumer reports is more antagonistic to GM, Ford and Chrysler. When I worked at GM we always fought the conclusions of this group. They are an independent consumer group with a traditional bias favoring the imports, if they say an import is bad, then it has to be real bad. Up to this report, Consumers had a slobbering love affair with Toyota, Nissan and Honda. Don't balme this on GM and for once it also has nothing to do with the Feds.
This hypothetical roll over reeks of more smoke and mirrors coming from Government Motors. The video shows this massive suv did not roll over even when they tried to make it do so. Motors Liquidation Company (previously GM) is desperately trying to damage a successful car company before they slip into oblivion.
stop using 4x4 like racing cars and this doesn`t happen. you don`t take a ferrari to the shops and complain about it being a bit wide to open the doors. come on fer, christs sake.
Was it an objective test or was it for propaganda material? Looks like consumer report is jumping onto the toyota-bashing frenzy to up sales? If another vehicle with similar dimensions were driven the same way - would it have produced different results? Go ahead, line up all american brand suvs and others to run a comparo. But please show the electronics setting during the tests too!
20 years ago, what would you do with a front engine rear-drive vehicle that didn't have electronic stability control?
You'd learn to drive it. That's what.
This is a joke. Seriously, anyone who lifts off of the gas while pushing a rear-drive vehicle thru a corner this hard deserves to crash. That's basic driving..
CR should really take a look at Porsche 911's as they have always had a tendency to have trailing throttle oversteer as well. Actually, they might likely keep going and perform a complete end-swap if you did a move like that. FYI - Toyota stock just posted a large gain on it's stock today...I guess the investors aren't as easy to trick as CR fans.
If anybody, Toyota is the victim here, because I HIGHLY doubt that a rollover would pend if anybody were to drive normally, and following speed regulations. This isn't the first time Consumer Reports has done this. Everybody is rushing to ruin Toyota, a rush that's based on hypocrisy, and ignorance. Claims just by a bunch of money and attention whores.
All these cars are tested the same, when you're driving 60mph and have to dodge an oncoming car or object you don't want your SUV to lose control and rollover. Toyota's quality has never been what we were lead to believe by the media, now the facts are coming to light, TOYOTA MAKES DANGEROUS VEHICLES.
HOW FAST IS THIS GUY GOING! that looks mad dangerous, if ur doing that then i'm not surprised somthing might happen. but i dont see a rollover....so.....consumer reports is jumping on the bandwagon to get more subscribers. that is all.
Lexus is made by Toyota and for the most part is nothing more than a dressed up, upscale Toyota Camry with better finish. They share everything from the frame up, Toyota uses parts bin manufacturing, they all share parts with each other to save on cost.
I guess they can't compete with the Bailout makers! AP, this is some great propaganda you make for your bank owners - the sheep will never figure out what is really going on! Terror against Toyota! I try very hard to buy only American Made - but I will never buy from any bailout state corporation! I will not feed the beast!

Pick-up truck based SUVs and Vans are lot worse than this SUV, yet US government and companies are unfairly singling out TOYOTAs only.
