Awesome. Of course, for the nay-sayers, this rig will not contend well with $1,000 models but it does a pretty damn good job. Jay, thank you for your tutorials. Im on my way to making this weekend.
It looks ok.... but the Steadicam Merlin Demonstration on youtube is amazing, almost looks fake. Can you stand in front of a mirror with your Jayblizer 3000 and jump up and down so I can see how it compares?
thx for this video. almost all videos on the net are for balancing and not how to hold or walk..when you did the orbit you didnt show the footage from the other camera. would you please show that? as i am trying to learn the best way for these shots.
Thanks Urbanloops, You are probably right on the marketing angle. My actual retail product is called the Jaybilizer HDSLR, which is aimed at a niche market. I welcome your opinions as to whether that is an appropriate strategy.
Just some advice on a marketing point of view. You should drop the 3000 from the name. It's not very creative and from a consumer point of view it sounds like you're trying too hard. With that said, you do get good camera movement with that rig. Nice job.
I'm still not completely convinced, actually almost every DIY stabilizer I've seen still has some unwanted wobble, especially in the vertical direction. The stabilizer does smoothen out this wobble, but it's still too obvious in some shots. Though maybe if you'd move a bit more steady, try not to accelerate too much, I think it might get very close to annihilating almost every instability... Just make sure you don't accelerate too much, 'cause that's of course what causes those forces.
Nice setup! Did you try using the camera remote to control the zoom? That way you free the setup's inertia while allowing you to control the screen size.
i was thinking of taking this for my canon 600d
