  • john shmit is little wine bag on that last set

  • i thought if you didnt hit the ball u were supposed to hit, that it was ball in hand? Am I wrong?

  • I have watched John Schmidt play quite a bit, and I know he is a great player, but am I the only one who things that his stroke is a little bit hurky-jerky?

  • Duel out dueled him.

  • 2012, 240p.. Perfect.

  • To any complete beginners at cue sports who happen to be watching this, Corey Deuel has terrific cue action; textbook example of the pendulum at the elbow and zero movement except for wrist and elbow. Notice that Schmidt sometimes jerks his head up right after a shot and that will cause you to miss. Follow through and keep your stance down for a moment or two especially when you're applying extreme backspin (unless you have to get out of the way of the cueball rolling back).

  • @franklinchai Still i think John Schmidt is a better shot maker when hes on his best game, he was playing pretty bad here, i think deuel is a better 9 ball and one pocket player, but he cant run 400+ balls playing straight pool, and John Schmidt did it twice

  • from what year is this match?

  • Anyone noticed that Corey Duel doesn't have a break cue? Isn't it strange for a professional pool player?

  • @KillByKiss Yes, he breaks with his playing cue and so does Strickland. It's rare, but some player prefer it that way (for different reasons).

  • @KillByKiss

He has a break cue. The cue he used to jump was a jump/break cue. He just wasn't using it for whatever reason.

  • Great pool I think John just decided to shoot it out in the end..

  • Very good sportsmanship by both players. Nice to see that between players.

  • 45:46 FLINCH! HAHAHAHAHA

  • Comment removed

  • 19:03 OOPS! ;p

  • Schmidt, always a class act win or lose

  • at 30:20 at the bottom it says "corey deuel 2002 champion'' im 99% sure thats wrong. 2001 champion

  • At 2:00 he is jacking off before the break? And the guy in the red points his stick up in the air when he wins. What. A. Douche.

  • @pppppcrehan

    You are an idiot!!

The keep the score you retard!

    Thx BClub!

  • @pppppcrehan OMG are you serious. at 2:00 he was cleaning the cue ball, and corey is raising his cue in the air to mark his score with the end of his cue.

  • Is the pink ball for television purposes? Easier to differentiate between 2, 4 and 8?

  • @OurTroopsRule

    Pink is the new purple

  • I've been shooting pool since I was 7 years old, I'm 25 years old now........ I've accomplished so much in billiards the past 18 years, and I still don't have the potential as some of these great people..... Time will tell :)

  • @kujo317 thanks for that bud LOL

  • eww. thank god for English pool

  • I like Schmidt's shirt.

  • thanks so much for these vids. they help me play better.

  • Corey Deuel..? Matt Damon #2!

  • wow deuel and schmidt the two gayest pool players alive. i mean that in a literal sense. they should call this the bitch and the butch match

  • wow deuel and schmidt the two gayest pool players alive. i mean that in a literal sense.

  • Who are these two commentators? They're really good. Especially the older gentleman, he has a great personality and an interesting character to supplement watching a game of 9 ball.

  • schmidt has no idea of 9ball..

  • @adianohto oh, sorry mr perfection, didn't know that there were people with no bad days like you are.

  • @tibyv8 the only thing i can say is when strickland came to greece 2008 he said i have never seen a 16year old playing like you so you can just shut the fuck up!!!!although i didn t mean what i wrote..

  • kala sto 11 ti epaikse o typos?

  • Can somebody explain this? On 27:48 there was a one on the table, but Schmidt hit another ball instead of the one. Why was that not a foul?

  • @3Nex I believe that was a push out. When someone doesn't make anything on the break, the other guy can hit the ball to change the shot, then the breaker can accept it or turn it back.

  • i played a few matches this weekend, and i was getting the same exact rolls that john was getting, and also. the rolls here that corey gets, on top of playing good. that will break you down and it seems like the balls just keep rolling funny

  • can someone explain the rules of 9 ball at 11:50 where he was allowed to hit the 9 ball out of count and still win? i have never seen that before?

  • @evhgl87

In 9 ball, you can instantly win a rack by performing a combination or billiard shot on the 9 ball during your turn at the table.

As long as you contact the lowest numbered object ball on the table first with the cue ball, any other balls that are hit and pocketed during the same shot (either by the cue ball [billiard shot] or an object ball [combination shot]) are counted.

This also means that you can instantly win a game by pocketing the 9 ball on the break.

    Hope this helps you.

  • @OnTheProgram thanks for the explanation - learned something new! i have played many racks of 9 ball and never seen this before. thanks for the clarification.

  • What's funny is that 8 that john just threw his stick at is the longest back stroke i've ever seen him use

  • @TeenyTiny945 my bro silver has been on this table before

  • what they draw with their cue after every match?

  • @JAMESPPH there's a scoreboard above the table, with balls representing points, the player pushes a ball to the right with the cue to signify the point he has earned.

  • "But he did not keep whitie on the table" haha jim wych :) John just seems like an average player to me.. he can think of the shots but he isnt making them in this match. He is a fine player but on tthis day i kinda feel bad for him.

By the way why does the string only have 10balls on it, shouldn't there be 11?

  • Nice ending, at least john didn't seem to be showing hatred after all :D Cool!! I imagine if he really punched corey! LOL

  • i wish cory would bet something.. id tare him up

  • wow

  • John is without a doubt a world class player, but I watched him play in person recently and his stroke is very awkward...It's just very abrupt, and not nearly as smooth as most other pros out there...Either way, he still kills it and is a super nice guy as well!

  • What on earth was he doing at 11:00?? Terrible technique.

  • I absolutely love(d) Danny D's comments on Accustats videos of, say, the nineties, and find (found?) him, along with Grady Mathews, the most insightful pool commentator of all, in other words, have great respect for him. But it is true his comments aren't quite as elucidating anymore as they used to be, maybe because he's seen it all, and said it all so many times over that it feels as if he were repeating himself - just a guess. Having said that, I still love listening to his (wiser) comments.

  • is Schmidt using an OB 1 or OB 2 in this video?

  • @Zach014789 ob-1

  • danny is a raven lunatic ,,it just seems as if he knows absolutely nothin about the game

  • Ok let me straighten this out for you guys. Danny is old yes, but he is a one pocket hall of famer and straight pool world champion. Look up his credentials, he once bowled a 300 game and ran 400 balls in straight pool in one day in addition to being a champion boxer. He was listed as one of the most creative players in the game by inside pool magazine. You guys on the other hand seem to not know "nothin" about the game by those comments. Yes he is old but he could probably give you the 7 at 70.

  • every video i listen to with danny diliberto's commentary drives me a shade closer to developing homicidal tendencies. i like listening to commentary as long as it's not as retarded as his. they need a new announcer, or announcers.

  • Like Grady Matthews... that guys lisp drives me bat sh*t C R A Z Y!!!!!!!!

  • "On The Hill" derives from the term "It's all down hill from here." / Pool-players adopted it knowing that it wasn't always easy to muster the courage to go down the hill.

  • i play on a table that has slightly bigger pockets, but it seems like their less forgiving than these even when i slow roll.

i cant believe how poorly some shots are hit but the ball falls in.

  • Yep that's the one i was talking about! i think they removed part of the video because i know i saw her in the intro

  • i watched the first 3 minutes and now i don't see her. that #1 girl in the beginning is cute but that's not her.

  • rachael abbink is hot!!!!!!!!

  • i hate johs game, sorry, his fundamentals are fuckin ugly.

  • they look different but they get the job done! i wouldn't care what my stoke looked like if i could use 'em to run over 400

  • He was just frustrated from playing badly all match. He didn't really have a single smooth run and he knew he wasn't running 7 racks when he can't even get proper shape on the 8 ball from a perfect leave on the 7.

  • Man, this Corey Duel guy can really play. Someday he should see how he matches up against Corey Deuel.

  • great match. great players. thanks bclub great vids. what does strokes matter from the winding circular stroke of bustamonte to the short jabby stroke of hopkins to the fluidity of reyes or the sawing action of davis. they all end up going straight through the cue ball with such precision the rest of us wish for. thats y they pros and we on the computer wishing for a better game. and im a decent player

  • :)

    Game on dude!

  • lol are you joking, corey deuel is one of the best in the world, wtf are you saying bro... they make it look easy i know, but that is because theyre fucking amazing, your a joke and dont know what your talking about. i wanna see you run games, lol.

  • @Shine0nCrazyDiamond dude your kidding right

  • @Shine0nCrazyDiamond i can beat you up like piece of cake

  • very stupid shot selection from john in minute 17:01, just stun the ball behind the 4 for a easy shot on the 5 with the option to chose the most convenient angle.

  • on rack 8 why didnt he just bank the cue onto the eight instead of jump it

  • corey is known for making balls off a jump.

its one of his strengths, he was just unlucky in this case

  • I know scmidt must be a good player,(other way he wouldn't be in the us open) but he's stroke is awful, so short and tense, not beautiful to watch.

  • John is one of the most knowledgeable players, i saw him playing 14.1 and one pocket, he's just amazing!

  • unlike john

  • they spelled corey's name wrong in the video =/

  • no you can spell corey like that unless his name is cory

  • HaHa.. John is a very good friend of mine, and his stroke is sick! The only person that I can think of that has as straight a stroke was Mike Sigel..

  • yeah and im a good friend of efren Reyes!

  • cool... you famous!

  • when in battle between two even opponents the best vantage point you can have is the high ground. once you have that advantage the only step left is to claim your expected victory. so when you are on the hill you have a distinct advantage in battle and in pool needing only one to win gives you that type of edge.

  • hey bclub, when is ur next video coming out?

love your videos but the wait is killing me

  • the firs rack was so amazing. Corey never had a good position but he always put a ball in pocket. Was no matter where the balls were.

  • Don't worry too much about this match John. You've just been playing too much on regular pool hall equipment and didn't notice the subtle differences on this equipment.

  • john missed so many chances to run out.

although i don't like his stroking, he seems to busy, too nervous. i mean look at corey. this guy is calm, nice stroking and knows always what to do.

  • folks, you gotta watch this one until the end.

the very best scene is at 45:47! lol

  • a lot of body movement by john.

i cant believe a pro jumps up on every shot.

  • A pro that ran 400+ in straight pool....

  • yes but this doesn't mean nothing.

Drogba is a really good player but i dont like his style of playing. The same for shmidt he is a really good player but i dont like his stroke.

  • Don't like it either.

But stroking THAT way, I have a hard time believeing he managed to run 400.

Still, I respect the guy, looks like a gentleman and a pretty bright guy.

  • ....the didnt even spell Corey's name right on the score board. Other than that, everything looks great. :)

  • I LOVE POOL!

  • WOW,very nice match

  • 27:10 lolLOLOL

  • superb sportsmanship.

  • if he had made that masse 2 by not scratching, things would be different

  • these videos are addicting lol...the only 40+ minute videos i actually watch the whole way through

  • on the hill refers to a battle in the 1950's. once seeing the last surviving Chinese in a pocket on a hill he shouted to his comrades that there were only a few Chinese on the hill. once the Chinese were defeated then the war would be over and everyone could go home. that is the origin of on the hill

  • very interesting. Had not heard that desciption before. Nice

  • thank you i had done research on this battle for a history class it was an interesting war. thanks for the post and keep those videos coming. thanks BClub

  • @awolvesdestiny I heard that it was an oooold lithuanian proverb, alluding to jack and jill and king of the hill, the hill is the goal, if you are on it, then you are close to the goal
