Hi, i have a 79, it was sitting in a barn for 20 years and i bought it to work on, i got it running but not how it should, i cant gett the settings on it right, ive sinced it but everything else is off, would you know what to set the floats and fuel/air screws to? thanks
i bet you eat harleys and plastics for breakfast lunch and dinner! i've got a 1979 gsl 1000 that scares me, but if your not scared your not going fast enough
My dad has one, he bought new in 78, still has it with 12K on it, It needs some TLC, been sitting since 1989. He will not sell it o me, im trying but he wont give it up.

Wery nice :)I have question to you: I have Suzuki Gs 550 E 1980 and I want't put there (in frame from gs 550E 1980) a engine like your ( from suzuki gs 1000 ) and my question is ...Is the frame in gs 550 E 1980 is the same as suzuki gs 1000? can I put there big engine like 1000 from suzuki gs or 650 ??Thakns ....I dream about you moto :) it;s great
I have one now. It was tied for the fastest bike of 78. The Kow thou beat it in the straight away but the Suzi won on the curves. It was and is a better handling bike.
In 78 Vance and Hines set the quarter mile pro-stock record with the GS1000... I had the 1978 GS1000E in High School... new, nothing out at the time could touch it. I ran it at the I-44 Speedway, west of St. Louis, MO.
Wow-great job. My '78 GS1K always had lots of primary & cam chain noise, but it screamed--long, heavy, powerful machine. Best of class in 1978. Thanks for sharing!
Nice nice nice...I want it.

a gs1000 engine wont fit in a gs550 frame.
i had a gs550 and tried to fit a gs750 in it. the engine is wider. your better off getting a gs1000 bike.

Sounds real good! Is it dificult to re-jet those carbs?

The jets and needles are super easy to change or adjust on the Mikuni RS carbs. The harder part is knowing which ones to install
