Uproarious! One of the funniest sketches I ever saw. The Carol Burnett Show was the greatest show ever to air in my opinion. Nothing has come along since then to compare. And I agree wholeheartedly with the comments made by "djdominaford above."
I searched for Carol Burnett, found this gem. On the right are "Suggestions" including something from "The Bachelor". How do the YouTube algorithms relate geniuses to morons?
It's a shame we'll probably never see this whole sketch in it's entirety. I also saw this live with my parents and I'm not sure if my father and I ever shared a harder laugh than during this episode of CB.
My family saw this the night it orginally aired, and I remember my brother and I just laughing til we could not breathe... it seemed like there was a litlte more to it than what is here....
used to watch this everyday during my lunch break in high school, with a slice of pizza and a coke on a giant tv. Couldn't stop laughing then, just as now. Conway and Kormann, classic duo!
@djdominatord so by "funny" yo must mean something other than the normal meaning of funny, otherwise you wouldn't be putting it in quotations. Now that's "funny." nudge nudge.
Unfortunately all of the posts of this video I've found on YouTube chopped off the beginning. The skit was introduced by describing Tim Conway's character as a young dentist fresh out of dental school, serving his very first patient. There were then some minor bits of comedy before the scene you see here. It's also important to know that Tim Conway often improvised during these skits, and judging by Harvey Korman's reaction, Tim was at his improvisational best during this sketch.
@Tigerpaws9097826 - This does seem to be the prototype for all Conway/Korman sketches to follow: Korman barely able to keep a straight face over Conway's antics, then totally unable to do so; and Conway breaking up (or, in British parlance, "corpsing") over his own antics. I have to concur, I saw the full sketch too, and was even more rolling in the aisles. Alas, since Bob Banner co-owns the original show containing this sketch, you'll never see the full show on DVD.
@Tigerpaws9097826 True, they always said that in the first time they did a show, Tim would do the EXACT sketch. But when the next show came, Tim would add on or change it to make it funny, making Harvey go into hysterics.
If I remember that sketch right after he gave himself a shot in the head, he flopped his head down on the book.

There is NOTHING on TV today that is funnier than Carol Burnett or Mary Tyler Moore ...Period ...xo

Harvey Korman trying not to laugh was half of what made the show so hilarious, LOL.

@sumitvids Not in Korman's case, he NEVER could survive Conway's comedy in any sketch they did. :)

One of my favorite Conway / Korman scenes.

No one can beat these 2 at comedy. They are best duo of all time.

Tim Conway...by far one of the great masters of physical comedy.

It's always hard to decide which is funnier. . . Conway's improvisations or Korman's losing battles to keep a straight face. . . .

He's trying soooo hard not to laugh. I wouldn't be in that chair if my dentist was that way- i'd run fast!

Darn they didn't show the whole thing. So funny..would watch it just to see Tim crack up Harvey alone.

Harvey Korman didn't have a chance. An absolute hysterical segment. Conway's the best...

I think that's the hardest I've laughed since the first time I saw Holy Grail. The timing is this sketch is perfect.

Only Tim Conway to make this look so real and believeable and look at the pain Harvey Korman's in! ;)

I watched this happen live on TV. It is still one of the funniest routines ever performed. Tim Conway is a true MASTER of comedy!

It's epic silliness at its best. And Harvey Korman's inability to keep it together in the face of Conway's hapless ineptitude is priceless.

It requires a lot less creativity to write crude humor.
People like Bill Cosby were geniuses.
