  • love this song, Im from URUGUAY, South America.

  • @Untefelehrr I've lived in Europe, so I don't really need to "see" or "admit" anything. I understand the fluidity of cultural boarders throughout the region and the relative openness to other people's cultures. But it's easy to be like that when a 2 hour flight in any direction lands you in a different country. I could take a 6hr flight west and just get to California, while you could take one east and be in a different continent.

  • @Untefelehrr Intelligence is not something one "tries to use"-you either have it or you don't, contrary to what you might believe. Notice, I never said Europeans were less open than Americans or vice versa, I was simply refuting your suggestion that Americans are completely uninterested in the world, so maybe you'd like to reanalyze your argument and get back to me.

  • isn't Mandarin the most spoken language in the world? isn't this in 500 Days of summer?? isn't she beautiful!!

  • @darkmisters English, while the most common language, isn't actually the official language of the US. Believe it or not, the official language of the US was never established in the Constitution, and to my knowledge has yet to be established. Otherwise, I agree with you. :)

  • I wish I knew French, it has a certain elegance most languages lack.

  • @niku2020 yes true. I am picking up a bit of French in my spare time.

  • trying to sing in french and feeling like idiot

  • idiot sarkozy

  • i'm an american musician and all i know is that this song is beautiful :3

  • MDR STE MERDE !!!

  • @Untefelehrr We are open to other culture's music. However, people like you would much rather maintain the idea that we are an ignorant, culture-less nation so they might still have a reason to promote their anti-Americanism. Yes, as a generality, people in the US tend to be naïve about the world, but understand one thing: just because our culture gets shoved down your throat doesn't mean you know anything about us either.

  • @NtotalXhateD I'm sorry but you are just talking for nothing because what u accuse me of having said has just nothing to do with what I tried to mean

  • @NtotalXhateD if you try just to use your intelligence, you'll see and admit that compared to us we are so fucking more opened! You know it's just a simple FACT, i mean i'm not even asking your opinion on that, what you want to believe in won't change the simple reality. On french tvs and radios: many many english and stuff, on your many many english and stuff, look for the mistake!

  • she even makes clearing her throat sexy

  • Love her voice in French. Love the French language!

  • i like ^^"

  • ai meu deus que linda

  • J'adore cette chanson *_*

  • @girl4eva96 LOL. XD

  • I love playing the guitar alone at home while some creep looks through my window too.

  • @girl4eva96 the creep is probably the guy who loves you or the one you friendzoned :(

  • who can dislike this song? it hits a spot right in the soul

  • I have no idea but i like it 8D

  • Gosh, she is just so lovely(:

  • anyone know if the guitar for this song is difficult to learn?

  • @lizontopoftheworld no it is "arpèges" so quite easy

  • I fucking love her..

  • i want to learn french:(

  • i agree... dont no wat she is saying but her soul is penetrated in the music . soul singer

  • What a beautiful lady and what a beautiful language! You French have such a great culture - I have been trying to learn French for 3 years but I find it just so hard! Anyway, much love from your friends in le Royaume Uni :)

  • We listen to this song all the time in my French 3 class.

    Linda musica!

  • @sneezepal i do not hate uncle sam but i just believd that improving itsself could be possible

  • Someone told me

I am told that our lives are not worth much

They pass in an instant as roses fade

I am told that time slipping is a bastard

As our sorrows He madethem coats

    Yet someone told me ...

    (chorus)

  • If any enlish speaker here would like to talk french to improve his/her way of talking, i'dbe glad to talk with you on skype, msn, phone whatever! greetings!

  • @Untefelehrr that's a very kind offer! If i knew the first thing about french then i might have taken you up on that offer. I'm rubbish at French however, so all the best! :)

  • so good

  • Damn , How do you pronounce this : "Serais ce possible alors " :s ?

  • Carla Bruni > FLOTUS

  • Who told me that you still loved me? I don't remember; it was late I still hear the voice, but I don't see the features He still loves you, it's a secret; don't tell him I told you Someone told you that you still love me Did they really tell me you still love me Is it possible? They say our lives are not worth much It passes in an instant, like wilting flowers They say time passes uncaringly That it makes light of our worries Chorus
  • They tell me our lives are not worth much It passes in an instant, like wilting flowers They say the time that passes is uncaring That it makes light of our worries (Chorus) But someone told me that you still love me Someone told me that you still love me Is it possible? They say destiny mocks us It gives us nothing, but promises everything It seems as if happiness within our grasp When we extend our hands, we seem foolish Chorus

  • haha very funny LOL.

  • Even though I don't understand french, I understand music and this is beautifully sang.

  • cette chanson est étonnante ♥

  • It's funny to see that strangers always say "I don't understand a single word" because us french we don't write it on every rihanna video we watch, because we have always been used to listen to that non-understood language which is english. USA should be more opened about other's musical culture, we see the "i don't understand a single word" too often. This is a consequence of the self-sufficiency of the usa. The world is plural

  • @Untefelehrr oula, t'as des problèmes avec l'anglais toi mec

  • @alisalahdada Quoi?

  • @alisalahdada Ton commentaire est censé exprimer quelquechose?

  • @Untefelehrr I also think it's funny when people say USA as one and the same, as if every citizen of the world's most diverse country feels the same. There are plenty of us open minded americans who love other cultures and their music. You just don't hear a lot about us because we aren't as loud mouthed as some of our countrymen/women. But yes as a whole our country is to narrow minded about many things!! Just don't forget about us alternative music lovers to!!! :)

  • @C4RTMiLL Touché! well said :)

  • @C4RTMiLL I won't forget you then! I know that there are plenty of awesome pple in usa, they just are not elected (even thought obama is less worse than bush)

  • C'est clair. It's a shame that the radio here doesn't play international songs :-(

  • @Untefelehrr I'm American & I love this song. I love Carla Bruni's music in general. Quit hatin' on Uncle Sam, Frenchy!

  • @sneezepal My topic wasn't about me hating the uncle sam, but anyway if you wanna talk about it, I just do not see how someone reasoneable could approve of the us government behavior. Nothin to do with "are the americans good" it's just objectivity

  • @Untefelehrr That is the best comment ever. Really.

  • @Untefelehrr I speak English, Spanish, and Chinese. And I still don't understand a single word of this. So give me a break... I'll get around to it.

  • @Untefelehrr True. But French is harder to learn than English.

  • @lovely441 Actually, French is easier to learn than English. English has more rules.

  • @GuitarGoddess01 rules to break you mean. it has rules then exceptions, then just things that have no rules and just are, and then words that are stollen but pronounced differently then one word that means seven things and seven words that only meen the same thing...

  • @GuitarGoddess01 It really depends a lot. In fact for a begginer, english would be simpler, simply for instance because of the fact that there are almost no conjugations when in french, the final letters, and the pronounciacion changes at almost every person( I, you, he =je tu il) and at every tense of every verb!

  • @GuitarGoddess01 french has one of most complex grammars ever, despite rules in engkish its definitely harder to learn than english!

  • @Untefelehrr Trying to prove a point? English is the most spoken language of the world as well as USA official language so it's only natural that they take advantage of that. Not only that, many artists from around the world publish their work in English for the same reason.

I too don't understand most of the lyrics but I do take that as a complimment to the song in a weird way, like it sounds so good we don't even have to know what she says.

    sincerely, A Non-American

  • @darkmisters First sorry but you are wrong: English is only the third most spoken behind chinese and spanish. So why do you make this mistake? And why do these artist publish in english? Because USA is the most dominating and spreading language due to the economical power of the USA.

  • @Untefelehrr You understood what I meant and yet you proved me statistically wrong. I didn't mean to be accurate, I meant for you to understand the point of view of the ones who said that and so I stick to my point, most people use english to communicate with someone frm another country,so I take it as th most spokn languag in th wrld

Not knowing about some other culture doesn't mean they don't care, sure many don't, and they feel no need whatsoever to change that, but not all of them

  • @darkmisters and then I NEVER said that everyone should understand the lyrics. But you have to admit that the fact that pple write "i don't understand" reveals that usually they ONLY watch videos that they understand, which means english videos, which means that english speaking pple stay into the english-speaking culture, whereas others country get interested in foreign ones. And why? Because the cultural model of the USA is closed (in medias)

  • @darkmisters WRONG!!!!! just type in any search engine most spoken language in the world

Most spoken language is mandarin! And i think French is actually as much known as English in the world

  • @Ghostkiller5555 french is 10 th ^^ but I have no penis complex about that!

  • @Ghostkiller5555 So you came to search the most spoken language in the world just to prove me wrong... Well, to fully understand what I meant you got to pay attention to the content itself, I'm not worried if mandarim/spanish has more native speakers than english. The point is, nowadays, if you want to talk to somebody from a different country you talk in english, therefore the most common language out there. And no, although french is widely known, it ain't as much as english

  • @darkmisters thats only i the western world europe and america, most other countries and now definitly eastern countries like china and japan who are creating very strong economy have a hard time knowing english, yes they do but i can tell you your claim will be otherwise in the future, and " if you want to talk to somebody from a different country you talk in english" ppl do it also in french, thats why english ppl also get thought french ...

  • @Untefelehrr Yes, I agree. I am Polish and I've always used to listen to songs in English, and even if now I understand them some time ago I didn't. And I liked it - they sound mysterious to me. Now, when I hear this French song, I'm amazed again. c:

  • @Untefelehrr I think you should relax a little. My American friends and I love this song and none of us "understand a single word" of it. We don't Google the English translation, we're not upset that there aren't subtitles, and although we can't understand her we still feel and experience what she's communicating. There are plenty of us here that enjoy art and culture from all over the world exactly the way it's presented to us. Not everyone here is as narrow-minded as you may think

  • @manzelc I never said what you think I meant, really, just read back my comment.

  • Che palleee!!!!

Ho il latte hai coglioni!!!Ti prego.stai zitta!!!!!!!!!

  • Tu uomo con la candela!!!

    Che aspetti a darle fuoco?

  • @Untefelehrr I do wish you wouldn't generalize all of the US. I'm in the US, and I've always been used to listening to foreign music. First Japanese as a kid, then broadening my tastes into other languages as I got older. A lot of the US may be as you stated, but not all of us.

  • @Draculaiiii This is not the topic of my comment really,

  • @Untefelehrr I understand that, and I wasn't saying it was. All I was talking about was the way you seemed to generalize Americans in the comment. That's all.

  • @Untefelehrr It saddens the rest of the English speaking world as well. I'm British and sometimes on 'British English' videos, Americans say they can't understand... -__-

I speak 3 languages. maybe Americans should concentrate on learning English first before they criticise other languages. ; )

  • @Untefelehrr well when france only comes out with one good song a decade thats what happens. For alot of americans this song is the only thing spoken in french that they have ever enjoyed. whereas you french ppl are well aware of the massive entertainment talent continually coming out of the U.S., and youve simply gotten tired of saying "I dont understand it, but I love it"

  • @amybadgorilla Lmao, do you believe in what you wrote? If so, it would really sadden me that someone could be so naive to believe that the french music which is presented to you in the usa is representative of the french music. There are exactly as many talents in frence as in the usa, but your media just do not want you to hear to those. And if you are talking about lmfao or anything like that from the usa as a real artistical talent, just let me laugh!

  • @Untefelehrr This is pretty offensive, because how do you know what exactly they mean by 'I don't understand a word"? Because I for one, do not understand a WORD in this song, but I understand the passion in her voice and in her eyes. I am NOT closed to other cultures-in fact, I sort of take pride in being completely open to the rest of the world. SPOILER ALERT, not all Americans are, in fact, ignorant. Maybe it is not we who should open our minds and hearts, but you, my friend.

  • @CrazyBabyMonkey5697 I never said it and if you read my comment again without being afraid of any so-called attack on you, you'll understand what I meant

  • I want to understand this song. so beautiful !!

  • Sarkozy, the guy in this video...Carla Bruni obviously has a really weird idea of attractiveness.

  • @spiffilyiffy but she has an idea of who's got money and who not....

  • @spiffilyiffy well...he IS the current president of france...if women like guys with money, imagine a president lol

  • @spiffilyiffy

    that isn't sarkozy...

  • @Gidwan I know, I live in France and thus tend to see his face a lot...I meant that as in, "first Sarkozy, now this guy...Gosh, Carla Bruni sure has a weird idea of attractiveness." But I shortened it assuming people would think a bit about what I probably meant before commenting...
