That's false. Unless that sear was registered with the BATFE pre-86 then that is highly illegal. And it's not the only sear you can do that with. If you have a RDIAS or LL for an AR15 that was registered Pre-86 thats another example. Lots out there. If that isn't registered i'd destroy that sear ASAP.
The way to go for M16's is an original Colt A1 or A2 IMO not a RDIAS.
Curtis Higgins is the man who made the sears and registered them before 1986. He does the vast majority of FNC conversions as all FA FNC 's in the US are converted guns with sears that are in a slightly different location than the original Belgian FA FNC. Yes I have the form 4 for the gun and if you knew about Curtis Higggins(S & H Arms) you would know that I have a legit flawlessly converted FNC from the guru.
You're probably thinking of the FN SCAR? I could be wrong but why would they use an old FNC over the more modern FN weapons such as the F2000, SCAR & P90.

The fnc is like an AR/AK and its just great, shoots extremely well and verly little recoil during full auto, whats not to like.
