My heart seems to make squeaking noises, almost like gulping. (a dubstep heart) "Wob wob wob", and it's very loud, you could hear it if you're sat next to me. Although, it only does it when my heart beats harder, or when I'm sitting or standing in certain positions, or when I get an adrenaline rush (excited, crying, etc) . I have an appointment for the hospital soon, but would anyone know what this is?
Sticky as in pressure or squeezing? Does it come on at rest or when you are exercising and moving about? Also do you have a history of any cardiac or respiratory conditions? Family history? You on medications? Any allergies? Could be a lot of different things from the little you have told me.
@moxieownage Both pressure and squeezing. It happens when i take deep breaths and sometimes when im relaxed. or stressed. My Grandma on my dad side has survived a heart attack, my Grandpa on my mothers side had heart problems. Im not on medications and no allergies that i know of.
@xLoliChiDesuu Well obviously the best thing would be to go see a doctor have them do some blood work. The fact that it hurts on deep breaths almost makes it sound like you have some pleural inflammation... But pressure and squeezing doesn't make sense for that. Angina is a possibility... but what you describe it would have to be unstable angina which makes no sense given you age and just by your picture you look to be in good shape. Not quite sure... :P
HELP! it 2:20 in the morning and im just sitting in my chair at the computer. my heartbeat is rather slow but it goes faster then back to slow in roughly 4 seconds. Is this an irregular heart beat
my heart murmur was really bad. i came home from football practice and i had a horrible fever. it was like the flu times ten. my temperature was 107 and i had to go to the ER. a 107 temperature feels like your muscles are incapable of doing anything and your body works like a very elderly person
Everything I'm seeing says that most heart murmurs are typically innocent but I'm not gonna get my hopes up because there's still a chance it'll be serious
I have mitral valve prolapse, and it's actually pretty bad. I tend to get real sharp chest pains sometimes, and the doc wants an echocardiogram every 2 years, and I'm 16..
@BlackHaloGoddess93 Im right here with you, im 16 and going through the same thing, i thought like im only 16 this shit cant be happening this early but oh well
@BlackHaloGoddess93 ha idk what TMJ didorder is but i do get fucking bad chest pains and some days my stomach hurts so bad that i just wana fucking cry idk if its intestinal or not but i dont really care either, I tend to worry a lot so i just try to not think about it haha
@TheKaylub TMJ disorder is a joint/disk disorder with the jaw. it causes so many stupid symptoms, and mine has progressed badly. Yeah, same here. I don't have an energy to do anything, and I worry a lot, so that makes the stomach pain worse. I'm seeing a gastroenterologist, but...they're saying there isn't anything wrong with my intestines, other than that they're thickening, and I know there is.
ok people need to chill out ... most murmurs, especially in young people, are absolutely nothing to worry about. most of the time in a young person they are due to your heart actually being quite healthy and being able to pump alot of blood, so you get a whooshing sound when it beats, thats all.
@craigcraigycrag You might be experiencing a form of heart block, probably atrioventricular. The electrical signals fail to stimulate the ventricles resulting in "skipping" of a beat, as you said. The ventricles will then sometimes generate an "escape rhythm" which simply means they'll randomly contract without normal impulses, hence the double beats. I suggest you get and ECG. It will be clearly visible from it if that's what you have. Still, my diagnosis is on your sentence so I might be wrong.
There is no way to take care of it! You can't change the involuntary functions of your heart with out surgery. And no doctor in their right mind is going to perform heart surgery for a murmur.
@phelpsphan8808 "And no doctor in their right mind is going to perform heart surgery for a murmur." What are you talking about? Both Mitral and Aortic stenosis, which caused the murmurs above, can have severe complications if not treated, ending up in cardiac failure. Surgery is a routine valve transplant. It is indeed invasive, but commonly used since the valves transplanted are usually from pigs, so widely available. Murmurs can be very dangerous on the long time scale, so def. NOT harmless.
Well most people should get a physical once a year anyway, so the doctor would find out then. Also, doctors are the ones that have to tell you if you have a heart murmur in the first place, unless you have a stethoscope lying around...
And if for some reason you do, and think you have a murmur, it's still not worth rushing to the doctor for. It's just not serious.
@iluvJaredDrakeBell yeah i have an innocent murmur that poses no problems :D some people just are born with them or they happen over time from being very physically active! doc says im super fit and stuff so i gots no worries about it. some people will just shoot their mouth off on youtube thinking they know everything when they dont know jack.
Very helpful! Thank you!

Thank you for the very helpful video.
For those asking about heart murmurs (I'm a med student):
-Some heart murmurs are normal and won't hurt you (commonly found in young people)
-Some heart murmurs are serious and require medical/surgical treatment (your doctor will tell you if this is the case)
-A "fluttering" feeling is usually palpitations, and happen commonly with exercise or anxiety.

why is she using the pediatric side of the stethoscope at the beginning?
kataru19 1 year ago
@kataru19 its actually called the "bell" of the stethoscope, some murmurs are heard better using that side

if you have a heart murmur you should see your doctor and then they should tell you if u need to take any tests to check for disease
Dillonrulez1 2 years ago
You're wrong. Heart murmurs are common and can wait until your next check-up. Unless you're old, or smoke, or drink excessively.
phelpsphan8808 2 years ago
yes but if u decide to defer and not get it checked u are taking a risk of not knowing if u have serious problems

If ur hearing your heart beat in your ears it may indicate a anxiety attack. but a murmur can cause a slight wooshing sound from time to time
hahhead420 2 years ago
does being able to hear my heart beat in my right ear indecate a murmur??
jamesrussell891114 2 years ago
No. A heart murmur is just blood flowing the wrong way for a split second into or out of your heart. It's harmless.
phelpsphan8808 2 years ago
its harmless umm i think u want to check that
