  • Thanks man you saved my brother's life

  • that shit works bro thanks

  • thanks bro

  • dude i love you

  • BRO THANK U SOOO FUCKING MUCH!!! I FUCKING LOVE YOU!!! NO HOMO. LOL

  • Our PS3 has slightly different drive, when I first looked it still had a disc in there, dismantled and cleaned lens, then would not load a disc as a white bar was in the way, I "reset" the white plastic disc parts if you look close you can see they have grooves that push/pull the disc. Still don't work but hopefully just needs a new lens now

  • BRAVO THANKS A LOT MATE!!!! Now just to remarry the drive and VOILA!!!

  • That help alot, first time cleanong it out since.it.came.out, work perfectly.

  • Also, could there be any other reason it refused to spin. Because everything is in place and the disc is aligned.

  • mine still isn't spinning. the only sound i here is when i insert the cd and after that nothing.

  • THANX HEAPS MAN WORKED LIKE A

    CHARM

  • I got the disc to spin and the laser to read it. The thing is that it won't eject . When I first turn on the PS3 the blue light blinks and it's as if the Ps3 is trying to eject a disc with no disc in there. Any idea of what the problem might be ?

  • Thanks Mate..just the video I needed.

  • All you had to do was keep a disk half way into the drive before pulling the plastic covers apart, and do not remove it until it is back together.

  • @sudman909 Sounds simple enough, that's why me and how many other people made the mistake? i know you are trying to help but we all can't think like you.

  • @tspirit99 Thanks man very helpful it sovled the probelm perfectly

  • @sudman909 Sorry for sounding like a know it all. I just forget sometimes that not everyone has a degree in electronics/semiconductors. I will though, advise people against trying to do repairs like this themselves if they are not sure how the components work and what parts make them work the way they do. People can accidentally make more problems than they already have with electronics. Semiconductors are very vulnerable to static electricity that can discharge from people's hands.

  • Dear Helpy-Helper, Thank You So Much for helping me fix my ps3 and saving me a bunch of money for a new one. I couldn't have fixed mine without the video. Other ps3 fix vids are not as thorough as your and I couldn't see how the gears and mechanism lines up. If your ever in Stockton I'll buy you a beer!

  • thanks so much - totally fixed my problem and I'd watched loads of others before your fix came good

  • Comment removed

  • Dude you fkin saved my PS3! I was ready to throw it out the window after the laser change! Thank you sooooo damn much for this video!!! Really appreciate it man. Thanks again

  • Thanks for the feedbacks. Keep them coming everyone :)

  • This worked for me too. I got a faulty ps3 for £20 and fixed it for free with your video! Nice one you little beauty

  • Just the trick dude thanks

  • this just might be the answer to my prayers!!!!!! THANKYOU if it does!!!

  • Hello tspirit99, this worked put its keeps slipping off after i eject the disc. Anyway i could fix this. Thanks

  • Thanks Man I was getting so pissed and all other videos FAIL! to mention that needs to be in place. A+

  • Dude you should change your Discription to Disc drive not spinning. After many videos YOU SOLVED OUR PROBLEM !!! THANK YOU!!!!

it started with my son shoving a washer into the cd drive...

  • @Dragotaro Will do, thanks for the reply :)

  • So let me add to this if all u get is clicking or grinding there is a white gear that aligns with the small black gear on the left. Take the screw out of the white gear and carefully lift it out. This will release the tension on the loading slide tray. You will see it spring back into position then rescrew the white gear back in.

  • Mate, this worked a charm. Did't know what was wrong until I watched this. Thanks a bunch! You probably saved me from sending it out to Sony for a couple of hundred!

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you i was having the same problem...i also found out that the piece that wasn't spring loaded that was causing the issue actually is supposed to be attached to the same spring that rotates the whole big gray piece around...but u have to unscrew it from the black cover to re-attach everything correctly...i never would have figured it out without your help thank u

  • So the not spinning of the disk problem is caused by the lens? Not the motor?

  • @Xezcente Yep, my disc were not spinning because of the laser, just a little movement.

  • I LOVE YOU! You are a legend!

  • I have a problem! I turn on the ps3 and it trys to set a disc in place to spin, but it won't pull it in enough or move the layers in the upright position! An yet the blu Ray laser still goes like there's something in there even thoigh the loader is down, not up. I made a video so help would be great! Thanks!

  • NICE!!! THANK U!!!

  • you ledgend! worked for me! after ages trying to find out what the issue was the resolved it (changed the laser as it was f'd up). couldn't get it working - i thought the motor was messed but this sorted it. cheers pal!

  • @duracellmirza Thank you for the reply mate, this just makes me happy to know that i have helped :) thanks all for the feedback.

  • thanks heaps...this was my exact problem too...I tried swapping laser modules over but found out they were different and after putting the case back together I found a blinking blue light and a whirring sound where there was none before....but now it's working fine, only I still need to replace the laser pickup as it does not spin or read any disks

  • Thanks mate, went through some agony before I saw this.

  • wow cant thank you enough bro ive watched so many videos but non of them worked thanks best thing i can do is subscribe to you vid.

  • awesome. Was my exact problem after replacing the laser and deck. Now everything works great. How the heck did you figure this out?

  • @battheman777 Let's just say i don't give up easy till i have checked EVERY SINGLE AREA of what i am working on, i consider my self as i handy man, just about fix anything :) glad to be of help.

  • Help.! My ps3 just started having a eject problem. It will not auto eject I have to hold down the eject to manual eject it. Also I noticed a loud fan turns on a few minutes after i turn it on. everything works fine besides that.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • i believe i have a unique problem and would like your opinion on this. I have had my ps3 for 2 1/2 years. i bought it used on ebay its been working but its gotten the YLOD twice. I fixed that, but now the ps3 wont grab the disc's when i put them in. Even if i shove it in the ps3 wont read the disc. Is my disc drive totally trashed? or is there hope in saving it.

  • thanks man, The first one i did, had to take to shop, the second one i did took like 1 hour trying to figure it out. I guess i got lucky lifting it and setting it. It worked but i didn't no why. I got for 50 bucks 80gb reverse and now i no what it is, bout to make some extra money now. Wish i seen this last night. U DA MAN. THANK YOU

  • THANKYOU! I've watched and read a lot of guides on these drives now. None of them mentioned this. I must have reassembled my drive 10 times now.

Followed your video and it worked first time :)
