I love this order! I was really hoping I would find the passionists on youtube :)
The line I really liked was when you talked about God being able to work in your life if you trust, and the devil being able to work in your life if you doubt.
The line I really liked was when you talked about snake oil being able to work in your life if you trust, and the disease being able to work in your life if you doubt. Funny BS
@monkmonk40 I'm starting to think you're not Christian. You're comments are very confusing... are you looking to reconnect/start with the catholic faith and you just have some skeptical questions?
@monkmonk40 I'm not really sure what your trying to argue here, but first and foremost, you have misquoted him: He said "most people" believe there is a God, not "all" people. Because your argument relies on this false information, it is not credible and therefore invalid.
@monkmonk40 Okay: Could you define your term "confidence trickster" and define how you believe he's scamming people? It will give me a better idea of what you're trying to argue here. Thanks.
@Artbug The first sentence of the video is true “we may not know what the future holds”.
The second sentence is a lie “but we know who holds the future in his hands”.
The third sentence “that's why trust is a must” is not really a full sentence, but rather a way to connect a lie to a truth to confuse the audience and prey on a naturally desire to feel secure in the world.
@monkmonk40 The sentence "we may not know what the future holds" refers to the fact that no one knows what the future holds. "But we know who holds the future in his hands" is referring to God: He is saying that God is the only one who knows the future. "That's why trust is a must" is referring to God again. Because we as human beings do not know the future, we should trust in God, who is all-knowing. This priest is not saying you should trust in him, he's saying you should trust in God.
Sentence 2 is not true we do not know who knows the future, if we did we could ask them and then we would know the future and then sentence 1 would no longer be true.
But even if we asked how do we know they would tell the truth or that makes them a god?
Also how dose trusting god have any effect or clarity on the unknown future?
@monkmonk40 The "logic" of your argument is invalid because it is all speculative, at least this video is based on Catholic dogma... Catholics believe that God knows the future: The belief is that God exists outside of time and would therefore know our future. To believe this takes faith... proving that sentence true.
lastly, trusting in God does not make you psychic. I never said it would effect clarity of the future. If thats what you think, you're completely missing the point of this video.
@Artbug That we know who holds the future in his hands, is speculative.
If "God knows the future" and "God exists outside of time and would" as you say; then there is no future in in gods realm, right?
I don't understand; what we are trusting, why is trust an necessity, and what is the priest part in this? If "God exists outside of time and would"; how can the priest know about god? How do we know what he says about gods nature is not made up? There seem to be nothing but words to trust in.
@monkmonk40 To Catholics, it's not speculative; it's faith. I believe most of your questions would answer themselves if you looked into Catholicism (try the online Catholic Encyclopedia). Catholics believe that God is all knowing. Priests live in service to the church community and act as a vessel of Christ. We know about God trough the bible. To trust in God is to humble yourself to something bigger then yourself; as a child trusts his/her father, we trust our heavenly father.
@Artbug I was born and raised a catholic; and just like your response, when i asked questions, the church and the priests pointed away from the questions. They say, look over there, read this, follow that, have faith, all will be reviled in time. Mean while you spend you life on your knees in service to a cult that gives you only platitudes and busy work to stop you thinking, stop you standing up: they steel your mind so that your body will serve them.
@monkmonk40 I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience with the Catholicism; especially to the extent that you would label it a cult. Like I said before, no one's forcing you to believe this. It's all about faith. You choose to believe or not believe.
You don't seem to want to believe in anything. By your logic, why don't we get into a discussion about what reality is: Do you really exist or are you just a product of MY mind? I choose to believe you exist, just like I choose to believe in God.
@monkmonk40 I'm not denying that some catholics parishes are better then others, because some are: it took me a while of church hopping to find my parish. You must have come from a really backwards Catholic church if you believe the church community serves the Priests. Thats just sad.
@Artbug yes it is sad and true! where does the priest"s house, car, food, close, and church come from. Who's money ? If the people built a mill and employed a miller they would get there money back ; with a church and a priest the money just goes to the upkeep of both. nice job if you can get it.
@monkmonk40 Vatican City is a small country: it funds this religion. And again, you must have had a really bad church experience if you think the life of a (proper) priest is anything but living in constant service to their community for God. Go ahead, try to be a priest if you like... seminary might help you with your questions about the church. To answer your questions properly, I suggest you experience more of the Catholic church: See new churches, meet different priests in different orders.
What else would he say?

you are a confidence trickster:
if I grant you your first premise that everyone believes in God
why do people like you exist to mess with that belief you molded it into a set of rules that suit you and your organization.
we are taking our minds back

@Artbug Confidence Tricksters: a person who sets out to defraud or deceive people by persuading them to believe something that is not true.

@monkmonk40 You don't have to believe it if you don't want to. No one is forcing you. But what do you find so untrue about this priests message?

"Do you really exist or are you just a product of MY mind? " if you believe you are talking to yourself you should stop!
"I choose to believe you exist, just like I choose to believe in God." NO i am responding to you god is not.
