i think this is one of the famous lullaby for west africans at least cos i heard this song in ghana language severally, b4 angelique kidjo's release. i love her though she is becoming more and more prominent keep it up angelique.
I've loved this song since the first time Iheard it. I took care of a sick baby girl in the hospital for 6months and her parents dowloaded this for her. I would play it at nap time. She passed away 2 days ago...now I listen to it and cry. I still love it though...reminds me of her.
Samba Pati feat. Roy Hargrove - African childhood Music Video
A nostalgic recollection of old photographs from Angelique's childhood in West Africa, set to the rhythm of SAMBA PATI feat. Roy Hargrove (OYO - 2010).

Oh Gosh! this song make me feel like crying and remember as well how much I love my Mother ! It takes me back to when I was a little girl and have my grandma and mom sing this song to me ! African mother are the best!!!!! May God Bless Angelique , I am 26 and I grew up listening to her music since I was in Ivory Coast!
@Dadeuce@Aiden057 She is basically telling Naima, her daughter (for whom she wrote the song), to sleep tight and not to worry because she and her dad are next to her, ready to protect and take care of her.
Its a lullaby moms sing to their young children when they wish them to sleep while expressing their love for their child.
@diarra0383 Regarding: Angelique Kidjo-Naima. Do you knows of a translation for this song, or can you give me a general idea as to the lyrics? I really like it too and I can sort of get the gist of it from how it's sung, but I'd like to see a good English translation. Thanks in advance for any insights.

@diarra0383 Thanks so much for comment on this beautiful song. It gives me more appreciation of what's being sung, even while I could infer the meaning its nice to have more detail on it. My appreciation for taking the time to reply.

no she did not write it. This song exists since generations in Togo. And my mother used to sing it to me too.

I have no idea what she is singing about, but boy does this sound beautiful!
Halderic 4 years ago 2
I agree, it does.
hulthekore 4 years ago
It means: don't cry baby(which she replaces with Naima). Stop crying Naima, whoever is responsible for your tears just tell me and i will handle it.
It is a lullaby originary from Togo, hope it helps.
