  • Oh Gosh! this song make me feel like crying and remember as well how much I love my Mother ! It takes me back to when I was a little girl and have my grandma and mom sing this song to me ! African mother are the best!!!!! May God Bless Angelique , I am 26 and I grew up listening to her music since I was in Ivory Coast!

  • @diarra0383 Please could you translate it's meaning briefly.

  • @diarra0383 Regarding: Angelique Kidjo-Naima. Do you knows of a translation for this song, or can you give me a general idea as to the lyrics? I really like it too and I can sort of get the gist of it from how it's sung, but I'd like to see a good English translation. Thanks in advance for any insights.

  • @Aiden057 She is basically telling Naima, her daughter (for whom she wrote the song), to sleep tight and not to worry because she and her dad are next to her, ready to protect and take care of her.

Its a lullaby moms sing to their young children when they wish them to sleep while expressing their love for their child.

  • @diarra0383 Thanks so much for comment on this beautiful song. It gives me more appreciation of what's being sung, even while I could infer the meaning its nice to have more detail on it. My appreciation for taking the time to reply.

  • @diarra0383 aww that's so sweet!

  • @diarra0383 can you tell me what the words mean please? I had this song on cd and used to sing it to my daughter but like to know the translation roughly Thanks

  • @diarra0383 So it's a traditional song? I thought it was Angelique's. What else can you tell us about the song?

  • actually the singer is from Benin, sorry about the mis information.

  • angelique wrote this lullaby for her daughter naima. santana plays guitar. "Don't cry, naima sleep peacefully don't worry daddy's here and mummy too"

  • This is a song from an old school singer from Togo, I can't remember his name, but my mother still has those old tapes. that was my favorite song when I was younger. Good job Angelique.

  • no she did not write it. This song exists since generations in Togo. And my mother used to sing it to me too.

  • I have no idea what she is singing about, but boy does this sound beautiful!

  • I agree, it does.

  • It means: don't cry baby(which she replaces with Naima). Stop crying Naima, whoever is responsible for your tears just tell me and i will handle it.

It is a lullaby originary from Togo, hope it helps.
