I looooove how Cabelle's resonance has consistent brilliance and strength! What a jewel. She is well-suited for Wagner. I can tell, however, that she lacks agility and swiftness.
Once again Onegin65 you have posted a unique rarely heard video. Madama Caballe is one of my favorites and hearing her sing Cio Cio is definitely a huge find. Thanks for posting.
"...il materno abbandono" is heartbreaking. The entire final moments (O a me, sceso dal trono dell'alto Paradiso, guarda ben fiso, fiso di tua madre la faccia, che ten resti una traccia, guarda ben! Amore, addio! addio! piccolo amor!) is sung with such desperation, it's difficult not to hold back one's tears. Only Callas and Price achieve this miracle. Brava Caballé.

The 3rd photo in the slide show looks like Madame Caballe in a very early performance of Salome. Is this from the 1958 performance? Wonderful photo!
