My mother came to Canada as a war bride aboard the Queen Mary in August 1946. I asked her for details but the main thing she remembered was how soft and tasty the dinner rolls were!
Probably the most successful liner anytime, still in use! even if a touristic attraction, ah ah there's even a funny "english" village built nearby for shopping! not so much to see inside the ship, even the low-pressure turbines has been removed and only the "small" (not really so small) are left to see.
Nothing to do with ugly Titanic, the interiors of Queen Mary were a real masterpiece of elegance while those of Titanic were old-fashioned even for the age and of vulgar bad taste.
@23Daant SS United States is a splendid ship, born 20 years too late, It's real "reason d'etre" maybe was to have a superfast troop transport in case of war, having Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth proved themselves more useful than a fleet of dreadnoughts in WWII. United States engines are battleship class power capable, real speed (secret) probably unmatchable by anything afloat. Unfortunately it was built fire-proof and is so full of asbestos that to save it should be demolished and rebuild
Rms Queen Mary. Painted white during her construction, Grey thoughout during WW2 & black from 1936 to 1939 & from 1947 to present. Queen Mary is a very special Liners. Greatest Ship os all time. long live the Queen Mary.
@SuperTitanicfreak i wouldnt say Queen Mary is the greatest ship of all time, i think that title is better held by the R.M.S Titanic, no ship is more famous or more luxurious than her.
You always make terrific videos, Dave. And, of course, the James Horner track is certainly a great choice. Thank you very much for dedicating this to me.....er....oh...oh, wait....no...that Serg dude again?! Fine. Great. But, just so you know, I WILL be performing on The Mairzy Doates tugboat out of Dredge Harbor in Minnesota, giving an electrifying symposium on the history of water-utility rates.
Hey Jeff, I'm laughing so hard now I have go to pee. OMG! you are so very funny ;-) ie: "tugboat out of D.H. Minnesota"..."symposium on history of water-utility rates." Humm... wonder why here of all places? My Minn. Vik's by any chance?
Thank you for the very nice comment, coming from such a talented guy as yourself, it means alot to me my friend!
Ha HAA!! AWESOME!! Thanks so much, Dave! It's ALWAYS been my thing, to at least attempt (maybe mostly through writing) make good folks laugh till their bladder needs the most serious and urgent attention. As for Minnesota....I have no clue; I know I live around the Midwest right now, but haven't a clue where Minnesota is, although I have some of my family that have migrated there: those crazy Irish folk. Don't know why. Umm....thank you for enjoying my silliness! Please donate $4.
Hey Serge, you're welcome and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I have been on it for dinner with my ex many years back. It's been so long, can't recall alot about it now...need to go back! ;-)
@WWEfan9999123 Thanks, but look @ what that "faster in speed" got her... a resting place on the bottom of the ocean floor.

is that the titanic?
kthevenard 1 year ago
@kthevenard ...NO it's the (RMS "Queen Mary") as listed in the title heading above.
daveb6t1 1 year ago
If we can save the RMS Queen Mary, it is nearly criminal not to save the the SS United States. Save her and spread the word!

The inside of the Queen Mary is awesome. Many people still say it's haunted. Can it be true? Can anyone tell me again why she no longer sails.

In ref. to Minnesota I'll send you my link on from YT and by the way it's located somewhere just south of the Canadian border.
Hey, sure hope you won't mind copper in payment?
daveb6t1 2 years ago
I only accept wooden nickels. And this Minnesota you speak of is, according to my research, a fictional place! Wow!
