The plant this happened at deals with metal castings and aluminum. But on their website video it says they also deal with magnesium a alkiline metal that reacts with water. The neighbors say they seen a huge white cloud.
Its just my opinion but it seems from the evidence that a piece of magnesium was on fire in the dumpster, the firefighters showed up to put it out thinking it was a average dumpster fire and boom!
