Not funny to mock a great song. You sound like you have a voice, yet you and friend thought it would be funny to be awful on purpose. There could have been ways to do that in a clever and humorous way, that still shows your talent. When you hit your most awful notes, your friend may have laughed, but none of us here did. We could hear the good parts and wonder: why? So not entertaining in any way.
bit of advice outside the realm of technique. pick a song that a thousand other candidates aren't also using. If you pick a song from Rent, or The Producers, or Hairspray, or Wicked, or really anything that has really had huge commercial success in the past 25 years, you're probably falling into the trap of just being another face in the crowd. If you were to do something less commercial but from still well-known composers (Candide, Company, & Allegro come to mind), you'll be more memorable.
I thought this was really good, I mean a little pitchy here and there but overall so good. I mean I know this was posted long ago and you probably got into a college for musical theatre so I'm wondering where do you go for college?
*continued* coaching to choose songs that are good for your voice.
you should also not do a song from RENT or ANY other show that is currently touring or on Broadway because directors and audition panels will compare you. and it will make you look worse/
sorry this was a little harsh, i just don't want you to loose a dream because of a few quickly corrected mistakes!
before i even TOUCH on how the singing went, i want to say that even if you were better then adam pascal you should NOT choose this song. ever. first of all it is not a musical theatre piece. its from a ROCK OPERA. not saying that you should only do legit mt songs, you CAN choose some contemporary, but this is THE worst, and MOST overdone crap mt audition piece. its like singing "popular" almost. and i agree with the other commenters. you need some training to clean up your technique and vocal
your doing some funky things with your voise... like ensenuating "eyes" and there are def intonation problems... choose something that doesnt cause yourself pain
alright man...i'm going to be honest i'm a musical theatre major at Bosco, and im agreeing with only1danboy, this song is not for you at all. you need to invest in some voice lessons, and you may find that your a Baritone or a low Tenor. right now you do not have a chance at being going to college for musical theatre, but who knows, just keep working. im sorry if ive sounded rude, it was not my intent, im just giving you accurate feedback.
Hey...have you ever considered Pavarotti...sorry if the spelling is way off but you really need a song you can belt the hell out of. this is nice but it seems like you can do much better. also, check out songs from Les Mis.
Hope it helps and best of luck with college! I'm sure you'll be great.
hey dude if you dont mind me saying this song is totally not for you mate i recommend you search for a song you find easier to sing coz it looks like your really struggling there and make sure you pronounce your words properly when your singing mate and try not to strain your voice just a little bit of constructive critisism there please dont take it to offence just trying to help and im sure whoever you are going to be auditioning infront of will most definately agree good luck mate :)
Hey ! I was wondering if you made it in into any universities?
