  • Awesome scene. Beauty, songstress, talented actress....she's got it all.

    Dm

  • I this role supposed to be sung by a soprano?? This girl sounds like a mezzo.

  • Wonderful acting and emotion, but her voice isn't 'sweet' enough for Laura. She sounds more like a Marian.

  • I don't think that her voice is suited for this role. She doesn't sound vulnerable or delicate enough to be Laura until the end. The other singers that I've heard don't seem to be aggressively belting like she does, even at the powerful parts of the song.

  • She's legitimately sobbing here...I don't know how anyone can call her terrible.

  • ....(reply to cvsilber)

...Yeah, I know how the piece goes.

But it still doesn't require screaming. That's just what I think. It sounded pretty decent until that part.

  • i really want to see this!! i'm reading the book the moment. is this not on any more??

  • Her voice is too strong for the character. She would be more suited for a mezzo-soprano role. However, she is, needless to say, amazing.

  • hmmm lol

  • why does she sing like she's mentally challenged in the beginning?

  • Um, Emmy Rossum never sang this song. If your meaning the Phantom of the Opera video with the song, that is still Anne Hathaway. The only other version you would have heard was Jill Paice (who was the original Laura) in the Original London Production.

  • You cared enough to right a pithy comment. Just like I'm doing now! ;-)

  • yup cuz this bitch fails

  • amazing :-)

  • I feel like her acting is too much for this song...it just dosen't fit.

  • hmmm well shes just married into a really abusive marriage.....and gave up the man she loved....so i guess she's really pretty upset....

  • You think? Cause, the reason why she wants to leave because, Glyde (her husband) hits her every night I think. So yea. I would have left too.

  • Jill and Alexandra are so vastly different in their interpretations, you almost can't compare the two. I love both for what they are...amazing.

  • my fave laura hasn't even been on stage! it's anne hathaway who did the role of laura at andrew lloyd webber's sydmonton festival.

  • I wouldn't sing the song with that much emotion, i'd make it very subtle and move very lightley and kind of glide with a fixed expression.

  • alex is amazing

she used to be my teacher

she is a great shakespearian actress and her checkhov is great

    alex wins hands down

  • She is extraordinary. A rich, texctured and powerfull, beautifull voice. I saw the originals in London but I prefer Alexandra. Jill is fine if you prefer more of a shrill voice. Alexandra has more depth and register. I wish we enjoy her talent more around.

  • This girl is good but I prefer my sis, jill

  • Jill Paice is your sister?! Wow, your lucky.

  • I prefer Jill--her voice seems too deep with the lower notes.

  • I like the OLC Laura, but Alexandra is quite good too

  • I love her high notes, but otherwise I prefer Jill.

  • what just happend? did glyde hit her again (he has that problem)

  • She's so amazing!

  • i prefer Jill Paice... Alexandra is ok

  • agreed

  • unbelievable. Ms. Silber, bravo!!!! Bravo! Actually, you are no stranger to me! I met your mother at interlochen this summer (the bee-lined right over to me after she saw my daughter in Jekyll (Lucy). And Holly met you a few days ago while doing your master class! You are an amazing talent and I only hope I may one day meet you in person -
