Hey - I've joined this discussion rather late, but what a neat video. And what inventive and playful dancing. Now THAT is how I'd like to dance the Quickstep...
this routine is amazing! definitely a crowd pleaser. ballroom should always be danced to entertain the crowd. i can't wait until i'm in open standard!

I don't doubt it for a second. However, the sight of grown "men" hopping and skipping about in this manner makes me want to throw up - and I should stress that I dance four evenings a week, to a fairly high standard, and have no problems with the rest of the Quickstep. I would guess that the dance's appalling hopping and skipping derives from the Charleston, from which it originated. If so, I wish the dance would move on - quickly and minus the prancing about.
I would venture that these "effeminate" skips and hops are what catch the eye and make this dance the crowd favourite that it is. Without them, it would look like a fox-trot on drugs, really...
And if the sight of grown men hopping and skipping makes you want to throw up, I'd like to invite you to visit Toronto's Pride Parade in the summer, I'm sure you'll have a grand old time.

I use to dance to this when I quickstep ^^ YEEES I can ballroom-dance!! xD Our profesional championships aten't as preety as this ones though ^^;
