She really is a fabulous singer and her songs were not given the recognition she should have had. Though in spite of the opposition she had a huge following. The gay community at the time was underground identified with society's child something fierce. Hearing her now is just sensational. I love you tune because you can see your favorites as well as hear them and to see the fourteen year old Janice is mind boggling I was 18. Stevie Wonder woke me to a new music-Janice woke me to a new mind
The music is so good and she is still who she always has been, so you don't take the time to make a play list, just play one after another. From 14 years old to 55 with someone you stil know and memories you love to remember. It really doesn't get any better.
I have been lucky enough not only to have been to eight of her concerts but to have talked to her at length after several of them. She is as kind and generous of a person as she is a prolific singer, songwriter, and musician.
I love this song... she writes sooo many beautiful songs I don't even know which my favourite is. But what I know is, I have loved her songs since the 70's and I am still loving them.
one of the best songs.....ever.THIS LADY IS ONE OF THE BEST SONGWRITER/SINGERS EVER. AND I'VE WORKED WITH R & R HALL OF FAME MEMBERS SO I DON'T SAY IT LIGHTLY. I SAW HER AT THE SANTA MONICA CIVIC IN 74 OR 75 ( I WAS ON THE ROAD SO MUCH I FORGET) AND SHE AND HER BAND WERE BRILLIANT.
Isn't it great to hear a tender song sung tenderly, without all the awful vocal gymnastics employed by so many of today's female singers? Less is more. Thanks for posting.
I have every Janis Ian album ever printed... I still love the pops and scratches of a needle on vinyl. I kinda miss that on CDs and mp3's .... Just listen to the lyrics, harmonies and musicianship of the song !!

This was one of my absolute favorites. There is a drive in the gentle music that belies it's softness.
