So I'm on Stumbleupon, being bored and what not. I find this thing called Gnoosic.com. It tells me to put in three of my favorite bands and it'll give me a band that's like all three of them. So i put in my three:

1) Queen

2) Diablo Swing Orchestra

3) Disturbed

And it gives me this. I lol'd uncontrollably at how this is kind of accurate to all three of these bands.

It's Like Mr. Bungle and Knieght Rieduz had kids. I've loved all of the songs that I've heard, but with all due respect to Unexpect it's not completely original. A lot of the music sounds pretty close and sometimes practically identical to Bungle or other Mike Patton projects. Still amazing and I could listen to it everyday. Thanks Unexpect.

@phoenixLK27 It's kinda sad that a lot of prog bands don't use the 'core-style vocals... I mean, I like a good singer, but a lot of prog singers are really cheesey and aren't quite as intense as the rest of the song.

That said, I'm glad unexpect has great clean vocals as well as the "screamer" vocals. I'm liking Unexpect a little more with each listen.

@SnoringMonkeyExhibit yeah, I love unexpect and between the buried and me, and i know what you mean as far as the clean vocals being cheesy sometimes. i listen to meshuggah, and i was trying to find some bands like them and all the related videos were these bands with really great music but clean female vocals that just didnt work. on the other hand, dream theater is one of my favorite bands. but i understand what your saying.

more sick? well theres no band i know of thats anything like uneXpect, but my friend likes some really heavy music like meshuggah.. they're really heavy and i dont really like them but if sick is what you looking for, try them. Dream Theater is an awesome band though. no screaming, but they're one of my favorite bands. you should look them up.

better? maybe more varied instrumentation and more progressions. doesn't change the fact that meshuggah writes epic lyrics and the guitars play in something like 28/16 while the drums play in 4/4. both unexpect and messhugah are excellent bands. both are molten proggy awesomeness.
