I hate to say it but the ultraclean by my house is still installed but is now used to store crap from the outdated store.I don't mean to be a pest ,but please ask if it is just temporary closed or closed for good.
i would if i had the right stuff to make them run in my garage i had to pay a few hundred dollars just to have them brought to a testing site to make sure they run right other then that they are just sitting in the garage
i love the ryko R7B system i have three of them in my garage with different color scheme light blue and dark blue, red white and blue and, light green and dark green. it took alot of work to fix them up to get them running purfect again and alot of cleaning to the system to make it look like new but they work and everything
I just found a Shell station near where I live that still uses the R7B. Looking at it took me back to when I was a kid. I had forgotten that it has rear pinwheel brushes on the machine and that it accepts car wash tokens instead of cash payment. The Slant Systems machines are used at some of the Robo Car Washes in my area. Unfortunately something happened to the one I like to use and it has been closed down for awhile now.
i used to enjoy watching the R7B in charlotte nc, now there are no more of these in the area. does anyone know of the company that put out acar wash that used 2 overhead brushes and 2 side brushes. i have been looking for these for quite some time, and it wasnt in a tunnel form either, please let me know or post a video please
i always liked the Ryko R7b car washes, but i dont see them anymore in the charlote, nc area anymore, i am however lookingfor a type of car wash that used two overhead brushes and two brushes on the side that were at an angle. if anyone knows what im talkinng about pleasepost a video
@28prentiss Sounds like Slant Systems / Slant-Brush... I've only seen a variant with one top brush, but I know one with two existed. Why more in bay automatics don't do that, I don't know... it seems like most cars could use a double pass brushing on top to remove all the road film (or worse).
@28prentiss watch?v=m97azb9qpXg this is an unlisted video of a slant-system wash i don't know if youve seen it or not but found recently while googling the net
I remember seeing a handful of R7Bs in Florida when I visited in 1999, all with the common purple brushes. I was used to seeing later Ryko systems in Britain, but had not seen R7Bs with their unusual 'sunflower' brushes, to use your phrase.
Haha, yeah. That was at a Valero gas station; their colors are gold and blue. The usual color scheme for a Ryko filament brush machine (pre-Voyager series) was light/dark blue, unless you ordered custom colors.
ya, i like the light and dark blue. The voyager 1 at an old Shell station had light and dark blue brushes, i used to be all in these machines when i was a kid lol i used to use the mop for the top brush in a big car wash model when i used to have the big toy cars xD. I used a breif case that said "CAR WASH" lol and still got it to this day and still looks the same when i first wrote it. i think i was 7 and i'm 23 now and still love these old machines.
wow...haha amazing vid! I'm reminiscing like crazy right now..this takes me back to when i was a kid loving and getting excited when my mom or pops would tell me they were going to the car wash. I just had to go and loved watching the brushes spin. haha the good ol days..I have about 5 or 6 locations that had this Car wash but about 8 to 10 yrs ago they started replacing them with touchfree and now have the new rubber brushes..
Question: whats the name of this model, and r they still around?
I remember trying to make one of the side brushes out of playdoh when I was 2 or 3 years old. It was some blue and orange playdoh that I stuck on a push pin. LOL! It actually looked like the real thing. We used to have a few of those here. Now up untill a year ago there are none.
As far as I can tell, they are, but their machines are still in use some places. They use c-channel filament strips and fairly standard replacement parts, so they can be kept running.
There's apparently an R7A as well, which had four tall arms, but I've never seen one in the wild. A quick flash of it can be seen in the intro to one of Ryko's promotional videos (I can't remember which one).
Takes me back to when i was a kid they were all over in KS. Practically all of them are replaced with Lazerwash. Now i am in CA and i see the select a wash sys (great system) i wonder how far one can update one of these R7B systems (tri color, clear coat rinse, and programs) Do you remember the ROBO systems?
That's what I call the "Wax The Dirty Vehicle Waiting In Line" mode. Wax sprayed on the brushes goes flying backwards a good 25 feet out of the bay. :)
I suppose that might sort of scrub the rear vertical surface of a van, but not very well.
As far as I can tell, they only touched the rear glass of my car. The upper sides of it were cleaned by the filament from the top brush.
This is why modern machines have tall rear brushes.
which gas station is this car wash located. how much was this wash. r all car wash prices have dry? have ya ever seen a Ryko R7B machine w/ a dryer on it rather than separate from wash machine?
It's at a Valero gas station at the far west end of Wiles Road in Coral Springs, FL. All the packages include drying; this was the best package, at $5. I have seen the dryers mounted on the machine itself too.
Yes, onboard dryers were available as an option on the R7B. Basically, imagine that same exact 2-blower dryer I drove through, mounted on the wash gantry.
On my video of a US2001 overhead, you can see a similar but more powerful three-blower model. The three blower model does a better job of drying the hood, windshield, and roof, as it's also got one big blaster aimed downwards in the middle.
was it because the light was low on energy and about to burn out? some car washes i've been many years ago had that kind of lite flashing problem when theyre used too long.
The reason the light gets dim like that is that the tungsten metal evaporates off the filament and condenses onto the glass. This blocks light from leaving the bulb. It's particularly noticeable on traffic signal bulbs, which have an extra large filament for longer life. The bulb can get unusably dim before it actually burns out. Newer LED signals do not have this problem, as long as they're built well.
Ultraclean is basically this same machine with tall rear brushes and an available wheel scrub option, I believe. (There's nowhere to mount it on an R7B, but a big square hole under the gantry available for it on Ultraclean and later.)
Yup, that was the best package. These old machines don't have really elaborate programming options like the new ones (for instance, that cool triple pass bug buster on that US2001 OHD).
In fact, that's a perfect comparison. Go try washing your car with a sunflower. While you're at it, also chop down the mightiest tree in the forest... with a herring!
Also, is it just me, or is the apparent purpose of the three parallel rows of nozzles in a diagonal pattern near the top of the machine just.. to look cool?
Interestingly, the Ultraclean I have a video of has both that and tri-foam soap (which wasn't working that well when I used it - clogged foaming pads or lines?).
Granted, I have seen Softgloss XS machines that have two foam systems as well, a white foam and the tri-foam. Ironically, I've seen machines where the white foam cleans better! (tri-foam = boring detergent, white foam = a touchfree wash presoak that saponifies road film).
This type of car wash also appeared here in the UK as I remember years ago I lived in Bristol in England and there was a Texaco petrol station which had this type of car wash and it had green brushes.
You changed the music played in this video. How did you do that?

Excellent car wash video and an Excellent choice of music. And I love that quoter which goes this beautiful sunflower will bloom.
MegahyperDaniel 3 years ago
There should be a new generation of R7B, its a disappointment Ryko dont make these anymore.
MegahyperDaniel 3 years ago
Technically, there was - it was the Ultraclean, which had tall rear brushes.
The Premier Plus and Voyager I were pretty similar, built on the same frame and everything, but equipped with a new microcontroller system.
The Voyager II was the same as the Voyager I, with plastic exterior panels like the Softgloss.
So yeah, technically, even the Softgloss XS 1 is basically a reworked R7B.
