@Noctem2 I SO agree! It was like they were a size too small or something, when they were on it was fine but trying to get them on her again, like you said, was a pain.
so my mom loved this barbie and gave it to me when i was 4 but sadly i threw it out 4 years ago and now i feel really bad so im going to buy one for her and give it to her this christmas :D
doesnt any one care about the marvelous slogan that mattel coined for barbie durring what i call the dynasty era of barbie and mattels neverending avertising ensluaght.
Oh man, this was my favorite Barbie when I was little- except I think I lost the helmet pretty quickly. I can't believe there was a time in my life where those giant, magenta shoulder pads made sense...
ok whoever thought of this is ridiculous seriously barbie goes to the moon? what next alien magic barbie? "makes her own crop circles that turn into a dance floor"!!!!
Just once, couldn't Matel make a Barbie that didn't go out dancing? I'm surprised Astronaut Ken wasn't at the moon disco waiting for his obligatory date with Astronaut Barbie.
@EllaElla001, that is still the best Barbie tagline they've had. Every time I heard that as a child, I really felt like there was nothing I could do if I really put my heart into it, and I could look fabulous at the same time.
I think the barbies of today, have too much makeup. They could also use some meat on their bones.
I still have this barbie and her clothes. Unfortunately the rest, of her things, got stolen. I'll have to try and replace them. She's got such cool stuff. I remember getting her at 'Playworld'. I always liked them better than 'Toys R Us'.
actually, if I'm not mistaken this doll came out shortly before the challenger spaceship exploded, and was then pulled from the shelves. (I got one for Christmas that year!) So I think it's actually worth something if you've got one, especially if you have the box and all the accessories.
It's new Astronaut Show-Girl Barbie! Watch her fly into space then have a party all by herself on the moon in a cheap dress!
Notice From Mattel: Barbie Is A Doll, therefore she doesn't breath, which is how she is having a party in her fun fashion (other fashions sold separately at all toy stores) on the moon. DO NOT IMITATE BARBIE-We are not responsible if you do!
Am I the only one who finds the concept of her Space Suit turning into a dress REALLY stupid?
Whoa, calm down. Styles have changed and yes, they are more revealing, but come on, they are not dressed like hookers! They look far more wholesome compared to the other dolls on the market, Bratz for instance!
we shouldnt be teaching our children to be astronauts. im not a particularly overprotective parent, but i think you need to draw certain limits. like space, for instance.
barbie teaches that girls can be anything (an astronaut, a doctor, etc) except for a psychologically healthy human being with reasonable body expectations.
i just learned on wikipedia that there have in fact been women astronauts. this was news to me! however, i already knew that women doctors existed. why? because i see them! theyre on earth! you cant make stuff out when its up in space, so most people just assume its guys up there.
i hate the way they changed the look of barbie these days. she is such a classic. this commercial brings back old memories from when i was a little girl.
cookieking3 and teenangel93 are right. These dolls are so much better than the newer uglier ones who don't do anything except be models or singers. BORING! I wish I'd grown up in this era.
When I started watching this, I started crying. All these dolls look so much fun. I was born in the 90's, so I didn't get this experience. It is not fair.
Hahahaha, gotta love that even her SPACESUIT has shoulder pads...though someone should warn her about wearing that miniskirt in space. In about half a second any exposed flesh would probably swell up and explode!
we girls can do anything right barbie ,in the eighties this was a message to say its not just men who do everything , women run business run offices ect all part of the equality movement , and a good thing to send to lil business girls to be ambitious in the 80s ,and be proud of it , the barbie adds were a positive message to all girls .
This was the last Barbie that I got before I thought I grew out of them (it was just a phase that I went through) ;op. I had asked for it at Christmas and got it.

Barbie just trying to go with the trend. Many women and young girls dress like sluts so Barbie tried to go with the flow.

Oh Just shut up... Barbie is not a slut!

I never called Barbie a slut, you idiot! I said she tried to go with the flow because the styles have changed.

It's called a fantasy, don't take things so literally. It's also teaching a good moral that girls CAN be anything, not that they necessarily WILL.
xXPinkGoddessXx 4 years ago
barbie teaches that girls can be anything (an astronaut, a doctor, etc) except for a psychologically healthy human being with reasonable body expectations.

Haven't there been women in space before? Aren't there women doctors?
xXPinkGoddessXx 4 years ago
sending women into space isnt the answer. we need female role models here on earth where we can see them, not dodging alien laser rays on the moon.
adamndirtyshame 3 years ago
Were we can see them? You say that as though most children actually have contact with their idols.
xXPinkGoddessXx 3 years ago
