One of many reasons why people are not reading newspapers is because most are NOT objective and contain only bits of factual information used to push their political agenda. Many "credible experts" from various political persuasions already have an opinion, and then report on a topic in a manner that validates it. This also extends into cable news reporting as well. Just watch FOX News or MSNBC. Most get paid to passionately report the news to validate their world view. Yes, a joke as you say.
Any intelligent person that aspires to be accurately informed and erudite will examine multiple news sources for any given story and study the corroborating evidence. While many journalists may harbor some political bias, major newspapers are subjected to a level of competition and scrutiny that enforces reportorial rigor and objectivity. Even if newspapers were as universally flawed as you assert, I'd still prefer slanted articles bestrewn however sparingly with salient facts to nothing at all.

And then I would've gone on to mention that I only read these papers on occasion, and get my news from internet sources. However, I do read newspapers for their sometimes amusing lengthy articles. Often, when I am traveling, I pick up foreign newspapers, to get insights into journalism and its perspectives from other nations.
That's just an overview of how I would respond (I'm 17, in highschool)

One of many reasons why people are not reading newspapers is because most are NOT objective and contain only bits of factual information used to push their political agenda. Many "credible experts" from various political persuasions already have an opinion, and then report on a topic in a manner that validates it. This also extends into cable news reporting as well. Any intelligent person that aspires to be accurately informed and erudite will examine multiple news sources for any given story and study the corroborating evidence. While many journalists may harbor some political bias, major newspapers are subjected to a level of competition and scrutiny that enforces reportorial rigor and objectivity. Even if newspapers were as universally flawed as you assert, I'd still prefer slanted articles bestrewn however sparingly with salient facts to nothing at all.

I'm with pantherB719, though my reasoning in a bit, uh, different. As a liberal I see her candidacy in ANY race being an automatic win for her opponent. That's why I'll gladly contribute to her war chest.
As far as her reading preferences, I'm guessing: 'Helicopter Predation Quarterly', and the 'Wasila Plain Reader'. Sadly, neither publication are likely to cover the follow-out from her CLSA roast in Hong Kong.

Actually the VP doesnt run the country, I thought you would know that because your probably one of the same people that ripped on her when she supposedly messed up the definition of what the VP does. Would you be comfortable with Joe Biden running the country?
