I agree with Mary Lou about power. Gymnasts like Sam, Shawn and Jordyn are what I like to see because I find them more interesting to watch than girls like Nastia. Nastia is great, but I find the "ballet" gymnastics boring because there is no power to it. I find the gymnasts who can to a double double on fx and a standing full on beam way more interesting than the girls who are all legs, flexibility and splits. Sure dance is important but I'd rather have explosive tumbling before elegant dance

mary lou wasnt making fun of nastia, she never said "i hate those long, elegant gymnasts like nastia" and she never said nastia wasnt talented. mary lou herself was one of the powerful gymnasts, and that's simply what she likes. but mary lou does get bragging rights cuz she was the first american woman to win the olympic all around...

yeah I like the more powerful gymnasts as well (till some extent of course) don't know why maybe because in my gym there weren't many long graceful gymnasts such as Nastia (she's great too, don't get me wrong) and I'm kinda used to this style as a whole:)

I don't think Mary Lou was making fun of Nastia, specifically or at all. She just simply stating what she likes. Everyone has their preferences, some like the more graceful gymnasts and some like the more powerful ones. I love both aspects in a gymnast but I do tend to lean more towards the powerful ones just because, as Mary Lou put it, they're explosive.

nastia does not do a double layout on floor - all her tumbling is twisting, except for a double front.

I'd say out of all the US girls, Sam is the best at interviewing. She just seems to have an outgoing personality and she's very expressive.

yeah!!! Grace is very important in gymnastics. I mean, I like Sam a lot. I think her beam routine is awesome, but I love every Nastia's move because they are so beautifull.

@chricz949 so I know this was written awhile ao but I agree with you! I think she was an AMAZING gymnast but I do not like her personality...or what ive seen of it. I have the long graceful body type... and its not my fault that I have it but I love being the long graceful elegant gymnast. Im the only one at my gym and it sets me apart from the other girls.
