@lildibisback The audio is the official English dub. The subtitles are a direct translation of the Japanese dub, however. Naturally the former took liberties in translation to make all the lines lip-synch a bit better, and just to put it in a slightly more English way of saying it. Such is the nature of dubs into other languages.

Which is understandable, but ridiculous in a sense, since not everyone can't speak Japanese or understand it's dialect. That is only my theory and I am sticking to it until proven otherwise. =P

@TheOrangePanda Deathnote has very good Dub voice actors and is generally re-scripted well into English unlike other anime. However I found a flaw! L's voice actor sounds completely different. I suspect that the voice actor really didn't make his mind up on how to speak as L till later in the series. This L seems more human than the L we see later on in the series. However I love deathnote! And this is without doubt the most powerful scene in the series!

My friends: The Japanese dubs WITH SUBTITLES are better coz it's in Japanese so it's more accurate.

Me: People just translated the subtitles in English, and we don't speak fluent Japanese so we won't know for sure if it's 'accurate'.

I know a lot of people are comparing the English phrases to a script in a fansub. Seriously, some words can't be used in the same way, they can put synonyms. Aaannyway, I think Ryuk is actually quite similar in both languages.

I agree I prefer the english ryuk to the japanese but I think light, "Raito", is simply aweful! Im you mean you do get use to it and the guy syas his line well but his voice just doesn't match.
