I was waiting for over a year for 13 blues to come out, with "1,000,000 died to make this sound" running through my head on a daily basis the entire time after seeing them perform it at the Empty Bottle.
Now now friends, let me have my say. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's bullshit (addressing my comment being hidden).
thee asmz et gybe! are the epitiome of all that is left that is still good. I just don't fucking like it when churn their (our, or at least my) worthy sorrows into the loud and angry kind. It doesn't work for me and kollaps doesn't either. I think their first two albums are still their best.
@FugaziCharon that said, all truly good and dynamic bands owe it to themselves and to their fans to evolve their sound at the risk of sounding stale. asmz just happened to evolve in a direction I could not follow.
Is there not reason to be angry? Don't get me wrong, as far as re-listening value goes, "Born Into Trouble...", for me, has their other records beat. But I could listen to many of their more recent albums and specific songs endlessly.
But unlike many they speak with their music and I have yet to hear a song by ASMZ in which the music itself, the tone of the song, does not match the intent. If I might ask, how many listens have given "Horses In The Sky" and "KT"?
There's too many reasons to be angry. If anyone knows anything at all, they should be rabid with hate. I take SSRIs for my hate, because it makes me unproductive and unsociable. So I just keep to my depression, it works alrite. For Horses In The Sky I average approx. 130 plays per song, with 174 (soon 175) for God Bless Our Dead Marines. For Kollaps, It's about 15 listens average with the highest for 'Piphany Rambler, at 17.
I think if you give 13 Blues (not sure how you feel about that one) and Kollapse a little more time, they will grow on you. I admit that with 13 Blues I was at first a bit put off by the general abrasive nature of the record until the last tune, (which was at first my favourite) but now, having listened a bit more thoroughly, I can safely say that the titular song on that record is among my top five ASMZ songs, at least, possibly top 3. All I am saying is give 13 Blues a chance.
Yeah you're right. I'm going to listen to every song again tonight to give 13 blues another chance. Thank you for your words and effort sir, I appreciate them.

Yeah I don't love Teddy's Guns. Also everything past Horses in the Sky is really not that good in terms of music (but in message and meaning it's still going strong).
@FugaziCharon The new album, Kollaps, is truly fucking real lovely type sincere noise & rock&roll & proto neo glo droll throats dead fi iced wave daytime drivetime punk kraut faustian zizek anarcho classical chamber maid in helicopters quintet electro mash rock, & craft perfect for crash about out on motorways, out live. They play it well and earn their pay.
the difference in their singing between the album and the live version is incredible. I would love to see them live. I hope they release that new album that is rumored to be bouncing around.
it's awe inspiring, at its weakest, most immediate and unconscious. at its strongest, when more thought is put into it.. when we're actually conscious to the whole of it... well, there are just no words that exist to fully encapsulate the weight of it all.
@TremulantMannequin Not that it's bad, just to me it kind of pisses me off. Not the morals of the song or anything, just the way it sounds. I like the meaning and the morals behind it, just not the song itself, music-wise.

God bless our dead marines?
"When the World is sick
can't no one be well?"
In such an unjust war everyone involved is at fault
a bold statement

¨God bless our dead marines¨ is not a bold statement, it's just an ironic statement..

a lot of times, the primary goal of irony is to be bold.

i put the title as a question because it is ironic
"When the World is sick
can't no one be well?"
is the bold statement

I didn't care much for this album, thirteen blues is a much better release. I just hate teddy Roosevelt's guns.
