Knead wheat dough, make two roti. Put this chana dhal halwa between two rotis and fry them in pan. And you have Puran Poli (Maharashtra) or Holige ( Karnataka) and whatever it is called in other states.
Try adding lesser oil in the halwa ... It is a painful task to use less oil as it sticks more and hence requires continuous stirring, but it gives you a healthier output.
Secondly, while you are roasting the dal with the oil in the beginning, you can roast it for another 10-15 mins there and then before adding the sugar. This will do 2 things. Firstly it will reduce your effort later and Secondly, you have to add little oil later to get the halwa consistency.
@1DRock37167 I have already have shown 2 different variation using chickpeas i will shortly show a different variation using chickpeas in a vegetable typical south indian dish for rice or roti...thanks for watching do try this halwa if possible...<3
Thank you so much! I wasn't expecting such a fast service! My mouth is watering as I am watching this. I have all the ingredients at home and I will try to make it and see if it works. It looks like the trick is to constantly slow cook it until it becomes thick. Thanks so much!
@catsmew I had to adjust the flame from medium to low heat while i kept stirring and make sure you dont grind the dhal to a smooth paste let it be just a bit coarse try it you'll like this for sure...I must thank you for the request i got to learn something new from mom...let us know how did it turn out...Hugs...<3
@yoyomax12 we indians love halwa served hot or cold anytime you dont have fixed time to eat halwa but halwa is famous during winter we normally eat after dinner or with snacks. halwa is authentic dessert from india yes we eat with spoon or some times wrapped inside any indian bread..:)
@yoyomax12 I think you can eat this cold, too. It lasts for a while in the fridge. If you have any indian store near you, you should be able to find versions of these halwas in the fridge section.

Served as a dessert? Side dish?
