  • I didn't mistake it. I have the proof. The Lewis theme music was conceived at least in 1993. Watch the first 5 mins. of Deadly Slumber below. While Morse is looking at a painting that connects the painter to the killer you can hear the first notes of the clarinet music in Lewis.

  • Thanks so much. Love the program and the music is one of the reasons why. Need to buy the cd, it's only a fiver

  • Finished Morse and now straight onto Lewis. On the Third Season already. Have to say, though I prefer Morse, Lewis (Whately) really steps up the plate and finds his feet quickly. Hathaway is a good sidekick, and on the whole the tone is generally kept to a high standard through.

  • Thank Lewis for me

  • love the series, love the music!!! thanks for sharing!!

  • I am a huge Inspecter Lewis fan. I cannot WAIT for the new season to start up. And, I know this is completely irrelevent to the show, but James Hathaway is so HOT.

  • Lovely lilting music. Reminds me somewhat of the main theme in a 1993 movie "A Foreign Field" with Alec Guinness and Jeanne Moreau about British and American WW II veterans making a return visit to the Normandy landing beaches.

  • I love this music, it is very haunting and touching. Thank you for the video.

  • This makes me think of Soave sia il vento from Cosi fan Tutte, which seems fitting given the spirit of Morse that pervades the Lewis series. Barrington Pheloung's music added immeasurably to Morse, and this is a lovely piece for the new series.

  • Barrington needs to get more stuff out there, I'm having trouble finding his works

  • I sat dow in my sofa drinking my afternoon tea when suddenly my butler ( brother) came in almost falling on the Arabic carpet i just bought. I looked at him with my chestnut brown coulered eyes. What is it i asked. Did you know that Inspector Lewis is going on the TV now. I was chocked and the only word i could say was splendid. :)

  • I would like to see Inspector Lewis take inspiration from Inspector Morse in future episodes.

  • Brilliant music to brilliant series!

A fan from Belgium (one of many!)

  • This is a beautiful piece of music, I find it very haunting with the undertone of Lewis's sad loss of his wife.

  • This is so great, brings me to tears, love it love love it!!!!

  • I think an excelent picture of these two is at the end of Series 1, old school ties.

They each have an earphone in and Lewis in on the phone with his daughter.

  • Ah, marvellous - it's like slipping on a comfy pair of Inspector Morse slippers and sitting back with glass of Talisker

  • @gavin444 what a fine chap you are, class comments :)

  • I love it. I love the piece and I love pic too.
