Hey ACT, are there any news regarding Kurts method book? Its been talked about for years but nothing really seems to happend. Should one look for information on that matter on the homepage? Is that project put on ice? Best wishes, Sandemose (P.S If you didnt know, Esbjörn Svensson died this saturday. Great loss for swedish jazz music, or jazz music in it self. D.S)
nice. thanks for putting this up (A.C.T.?). that's kikoski on piano, right? wow. it'd be wonderful for dave to keep playing a bunch w/ kurt. they don't come much better. looking forward to the Vanguard record...
Yeah, it's Kikoski - he's been w. Kurt on a couple of occasions, I am sure it will happen again. Kikoski is a genius pianoplayer! The shots from Italy are with Aaron Parks who is the current pianist in Kurt's group. He's incredible too and will soon release his debut album for Blue Note Records.
Kikoski sounds really European in his musical language, reminds me esp. of Olivier Messian and other contemporay composers. I like him alot. Would be cool to know more about him, who he have played with, records he made, influences etc. Thanks Anders, looking forward to the new site, Best, Sandemose
Hey Sandemose! Kikoski has played with everybody - been in Roy Haynes band for ages, was part of the original Al Foster Band (which I was involved in putting together) - he's played with everybody really. His musical influences are the widest you can imagine - he knows everything everybody ever played..and I am not shitting you! Live he is as exciting as it gets...check him out if you get a chance!
Thanks for the reply Anders. How us everything going with the website? I really miss the board :( Do you know if the information up to the point to were it was hacked is stored somehow? Like a backup? Some great knowledge and stories may be lost I guess...Great with the roadtrip video and blogg. I look forward to more of that, Im watching it basicly every day. Best, Sandemose
I just came up with one more question (sorry). Will there be more clips from the Italy clinic (some of it is posted here on youtube filmed with mobilephone) I´d sell my freakin soul (again!) to see the whole clinic. Think its possible? Thanks again for puting out all what you already have. Best and warmest wishes, Sandemose
Hi Sandemose - I don't think more will be put up from that. From what I remember reviewing it we don't have that much interesting stuff from that clinic....
@Sandemose Yeah man Kikoski has really played with everyone. Played with Randy Brecker quite a bit...Played an album with Red Rodney too, the album Red Alert!
You should really check more of his stuff out, it's great.
