Actually I thought that even when it went over the up right it was good, because I remember one time during an eagles game akers kicked it over the up right and they called it good. Or is collage football rules different?

The ENTIRE football must pass INSIDE the uprights and/or OVER THE CROSSBAR. If it goes over the top of the upright it is NO GOOD. I can understand some fans not really knowing ALL the rules, but commentators... come on. Plus, the officials are supposed to COMMUNICATE. Only one official is watching each upright, he has to tell the other so they can both give the correct signal. It is called good COMMUNICATION, not confusion. Commentators... get a real job.

Over the upright is NO GOOD. If you are an official and stand under an upright and the ball goes directly above it, then you "extend" the post higher up and if any part of the ball would have grazed any part of the virtual "extended" goalpost, then the kick is no good.

I think some of you college football fans need to learn some rules.

The whining is coming from those who don't know the rules. The entire ball must pass within the inside edge or extended plane of the uprights. Over the top of the upright is no good.

Look at the Ref... he leaned inside the post to make the call. He is trained to look straight up! if you lean in... It will look wide.  The Ref was NO GOOD!

The announcers are wrong. A ball that goes over the upright is no good. The ball must be completely inside the upright. The reason the one official looks over at the other official was not that they were confused. They come out together and make the call together, so one official was merely looking at the other for that reason. The problem with college football is that announcers are usually screwed up and then get the fans riled up.

i'm in the video sitting in the front row directly behind the field goal and it was no good by like a foot. everyone around me knew it and the refs made the right call. look where he kicks it from and look where it lands. it would have had to curve at the very last second to be good.

Looked like a fine call to me. The camera angle on the replay made it look good, but almost anything would look good from that angle -- I don't even know why they showed it.

He absolutely nailed it - I Tivo'd it in HD and there is no question. It was a terrible call. Good thing it didn't ending up making the difference in that game.

the entire ball had to be inside the inside edge of the upright. Our camera angle was from the left side of the field. If we saw the right side angle it would look way out of bounds.
