Square Enix as well as Squaresoft are my favorite developers of all time. Even if the games SE make in the future are crap, they've still created enough epic games for me to last a whole lifetime replaying them. :3
Actually remaking a game means taht it is good because no company or anyone would ever make a remake of a shity game, only the best games get to have a remake so the new generations play the best that there were, there are and always will be the best games made.
Out of so many remixes that I've heard, this one is the best hands down. It captures the emotional aspect very well. All other remixes are too upbeat, when this song is supposed to be about Zidane's emotional struggle at this point in time. Even Square's own piano version can't compare to this.

Though this game doesn't need a remake or anything I disagree that bringing it to the current gen consoles would be an insult.
I for one would love to replay this master piece with added achivements to challenge the player futher! Also it would get a lot of advertisment so it would attract a new generation of player to experience its glory. A remake is not needed but with all the crap released now days having a real RPG to play again would be fantastic!
No remakes of anything please... Release a sequel to ff9, same sprites and all, but just smoother around the edges ;) I need more ff9 story and ideas... Not all this new over the top shit, that seems confusing and WAY too mechanical and futuristic..
It makes me sad :( I just got to treno right after garnets coronation, and when I go to get vivi from his old home, it freezes even on my ps3. I've had this game for a good 10 years though. I will be ordering a brand new one here soon :) I would be very happy to see a remake of THIS game rather than the highly talked about remake of 7. This one's my favorite as for right now. lol.

I think ff9 is the greatest ff game, and I adore just the whole medieval theme and the characters..but there were loose ends..what was the deal with garnet looking like the former queen? what happened to kuja? why did Zidane survive? and finally who the fuck was necron? :P

by the way if anyone is also interested, there´s a version of ff7 for pc too (I guess they weren´t pretty famous, but they exist, because as I said before, I have them) the only problem is that with ff7 you´ll have to play it in a very weird way (just using the numeric pad of your keyboard), and if u´re using a laptop, then you have to maintain pressed the "fn" button while you use the keys that have the number impressed (it is really weird, but you get used to it XD) anyway I hope this helps!!
I might not know the topic of this conversation, but actually you don´t need an emulator in order to play ff9, because there was a version for pc (I have both the one for playstation and the one for pc and I can assure u they are exactly the same) so there´s no need for an emulator, besides I agree with the idea that ff9 and ff7 don´t need a remake, because that would both take a very long time and it would ruin some good parts.
I want to know what the developers of the game are thinking, when they type "final fantasy IX" in youtube, and just seeing all the fan's making videos because they love the game.

What they need to do with the PS1 classic Final Fantasies, like 7,8, and 9. Is not completely remake just remaster. I would love to hear the voices of my characters so they should definenetly do voice-acting for the games then they should give it modernized graphics like 12 and 13. But keep the stories exactly the same do not change the storylines in anyway. I just want voices and better graphics.

@AniBenNerd They are actually have the plans to do that with 7 however Square has a lot of projects so they postponed the remake of 7. The demand for the remake however remains very high among gamers that love the FF series.

But now they have finished almost everything they are working on they should have started on the 7 remake. @AniBenNerd Well as I am in America I have found that FF7 is the most popular among Americans or that is what it seems to be. I did like 8 better than 7 though because it is more around my age group so it is easier to relate to the problems related to age that the characters are facing so for me I develop a better relationship with the characters and it seems unanimous among critics and gamers that the one thing they missed most in 8 was voice acting especially for Rinoa.
I've always been of the opinion that this song needs a godly metal cover of the chorus worthy of the most brain-jostling headbang. This is pretty close. : D

FF9 is one of my all time favorite games and this song is amazing. The only problem i had with it was that i felt some skill should have broken the damage limit or hit more than once since after a while you had multiple abilities that could cap damage.

FF9 deserves a remake. Its overall, the best Final Fantasy game (In MY opinion). It had some of the best OSTs, graphics, and characters. Zidane is the only character main male that doesn't get all emo. *coughCLOUDcough*

@SlLENTHlLL FF7 was not finished. Some FMV's have lego characters and some doesn't. Also the field models could have been the same as the battle models. They should have released it when it was done in my opinion.

Take Pokemon FR/LG and HG/SS for instance...the original R/B/Y and G/S/C versions were not bad on their own. People loved them--and still do. The new versions try to keep the charm of the originals while bringing them up to an updated system and expand on them.
Metroid Zero Mission is another. It's bringing the original to a newer age. I still rock around Zebes in the NES game.
@SlLENTHlLL Even better: FFOrigins/FFDoS and the PSP counterparts. They're not implying the originals were bad. At all. Rather, they're just a good polish on the originals. Otherwise they'd have radically changed the way you play those.
My point is, "remake" in the sense of a video game doesn't imply the original is bad, it's just repolishing an old classic. I played MZM, first Metroid ever, and it got me into the rest of the series. A remake got me into the originals. See where this is going?

@madapocket Actually I agree - remakes suggest they can't make anything decent anymore and need to rely on old classics. FF9 is good how it is and should stay that way, otherwise it's not the same game.
@madapocket FFIX does have almost perfect graphics. FF10's were too flashy for my taste. But it doesn't need a remake, I prefer to think what I want of the characters' voices, because they really screwed up with the voice acting in Dissidia.
I'm not sure why people seem to want PS3 and 360 remakes of all the three main PSX FF's. I think they're perfect the way they are. Sure, there are some moments I'd like to see in HD (Zidane grabbing Garnet's butt and Cloud dressing as a woman to name a few) but otherwise, I think Square Enix should leave these three untouched and not get suckered into the spiral of remakes like I, II and IV.
Everyone compares FFVII with every other Final Fantasy. I guess this is understandable, because FFVII is the peak of Square's games. However, I don't think that VII should be compared with every other Final Fantasy; every FF is in a league of its own. IX is my favorite FF (actually, my favorite game), but that doesn't give me the right to say that 7 is terrible. So let's just appreciate the greatness of IX and VII without bashing either one. And btw, the music is pretty good lol
I remember when I first played this scene, it was one of the first times in video games where I really felt for the characters and just wanted to jump into the game and help them so much. Great game, best story in FF history.

FF9 was the only video game (other than Drakengard holy crap) where I felt kinda' sad at the end and actually -cried- the moment the credits started rolling.The characters were all so powerful and in depth. I became attached to each one.
FF7 was enjoyable, but people it give it too much credit.

FF9 is one of my all time favorite games and this song is amazing. The only problem i had with it was that i felt some skill should have broken the damage limit or hit more than once since after a while you had multiple abilities that could cap damage.

FF9 deserves a remake. Its overall, the best Final Fantasy game (In MY opinion). It had some of the best OSTs, graphics, and characters. Zidane is the only character main male that doesn't get all emo. *coughCLOUDcough*

"Do a remake!!!" is an insult to the original (and it's creators) and is implying that it's bad.
It's not broken, so don't fix it.
Same with FF7. It's a finished game and a self-contained universe.
There's no need to add anything to it, or change it in any way.
Also, as a sidenote... No, Cloud isn't emo or anything like it. You're just thinking of the post-Square creation called "Cloud". Which kinda looks like him, sure. But that's about it.

@SlLENTHlLL It;s not an insult at all. Saying you want a remake says a few things. You loved the game so much you want to see it in newer graphics. You want the game to have vocal work (I don't know about you, but I LOVED Final Fantasy III and IV on the DS, and i'd like to point out I DID play all the originals first), Or you want a newer generation to experience it. In no way is that insulting the game, that is showing you care about it.

But as with the rest of the ff games, id really love to play it but dont fancy searching for the original ps version and indeed for my ps1. xD it would be nice to be brought back for a newer concole, even if it doesnt change it would be great for newer gamers or those without playstations. they brought ff13 to xbox, why cant they re release a couple of the older ones for it?

@SlLENTHlLL FF7 was not finished. Some FMV's have lego characters and some doesn't. Also the field models could have been the same as the battle models. They should have released it when it was done in my opinion.

An opinion is an opinion at the end of the day. Take Pokemon FR/LG and HG/SS for instance...the original R/B/Y and G/S/C versions were not bad on their own. People loved them--and still do. The new versions try to keep the charm of the originals while bringing them up to an updated system and expand on them.
Metroid Zero Mission is another. It's bringing the original to a newer age. I still rock around Zebes in the NES game.

@SlLENTHlLL Even better: FFOrigins/FFDoS and the PSP counterparts. They're not implying the originals were bad. At all. Rather, they're just a good polish on the originals. Otherwise they'd have radically changed the way you play those.
My point is, "remake" in the sense of a video game doesn't imply the original is bad, it's just repolishing an old classic. I played MZM, first Metroid ever, and it got me into the rest of the series. A remake got me into the originals. See where this is going?

@madapocket FFIX does have almost perfect graphics. FF10's were too flashy for my taste. But it doesn't need a remake, I prefer to think what I want of the characters' voices, because they really screwed up with the voice acting in Dissidia.

I'm not sure why people seem to want PS3 and 360 remakes of all the three main PSX FF's. I think they're perfect the way they are. Sure, there are some moments I'd like to see in HD (Zidane grabbing Garnet's butt and Cloud dressing as a woman to name a few) but otherwise, I think Square Enix should leave these three untouched and not get suckered into the spiral of remakes like I, II and IV.

Everyone compares FFVII with every other Final Fantasy. I guess this is understandable, because FFVII is the peak of Square's games. However, I don't think that VII should be compared with every other Final Fantasy; every FF is in a league of its own. IX is my favorite FF (actually, my favorite game), but that doesn't give me the right to say that 7 is terrible. So let's just appreciate the greatness of IX and VII without bashing either one. And btw, the music is pretty good lol

I remember when I first played this scene, it was one of the first times in video games where I really felt for the characters and just wanted to jump into the game and help them so much. Great game, best story in FF history.

FF9 was the only video game (other than Drakengard holy crap) where I felt kinda' sad at the end and actually -cried- the moment the credits started rolling.The characters were all so powerful and in depth. I became attached to each one.

But first, they must make a movie out of Tactics. A guy has a xanga website saying who he wants casted as who in the hypothetical FFT movie. And his selections are actually quite good. A lot of the actors he proposed really look like the characters. Search "final fantasy tactics movie cast" and look at the second one. Great.
