The dissent against Natalie Maines wasn't about her Bush comment except by a few radical Bush lovers (I think he should face charges). You see these radicals on their movie and here on youtube. The dissent was against the ever increasing bashfest from Natalie. She falls behind Toby on the charts, and she has to bash him. Her concerts were full of her bashing others. The anti-war comment was disingenuous and made in a foreign country to gain fan appeal there. It was the last straw for C&W fans.

Nat's bashing got her in trouble long before London:
The controversy had seemingly died down. But three weeks later, the Chicks were beamed into the Academy of Country Music awards during a performance in Austin, Texas. I lost a lot of respect for the Dixie Chicks when all this happened. They have such a wide van base and they are role models for their younger fans. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but they should have done it with a little more class. And I completely agree with jctilman! Natalie disrespects her own country and Toby Keith and his songs, but then gets upset when people stop buying her groups cd's and stops listening to their music.

I lost a lot of respect for the dixie chicks. I did not lower myself to their standards and wear a "FUTK" or "FUDC" tshirt or smash my their cds, but I did stop listening to their music. They need to understand that people look up to them, they are role models and what they say not only affects them, but the people around them as well. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I understand that, but they should have done it with a little more class!!! The "FUTK" thing just made it worse!

This is why i was a supporter of the dixie Chicks the whole time. They always seemed to understand that what they were doing might have negative repurcussions, but they knew that they said what they felt. I also respect that they seemed relatively well spoken the whole time, unlike Toby Keith, whose retort was "... she said anybody could write, 'Boot in your ass,' but she didnt."
