Thanks a lot! Martin and I are playing only a few gigs a year. Maybe 5-10 times in our area. In this video I don't use monitors and the Tascam is for recording not live mixing. We play live through fishman solo amp, also used as monitor.

Hi!

I use the preamp of the Tascam 2488neo. One mic points to the bridge/soundhole, the other to where the neck meets the body, about 7-8 '' away. That's all.

I'm thinking about purchasing the 2488neo as well. Whats more of a coincidence is the fact I will also be recording either a classical or acoustic guitar. Question 1) Are you using compression while recording? and question 2) Is the wooden cabinet in the background being used as a type of diffuser for the room acoustics? Thnx for any help. Wonderful playing by the way :)

1) I use no effects while recording - but during the mastering.

2) The wooden cabinet is just in my living room, a place where I have enough light. If it has any effect on the recording it was not intended.

That truly is nice! Were you using a Tascam 2488neo? Are you going to use multiple tracks at some point. So far, you could use what I've heard as a master to make CDs, unless with CDs you have to make a glass master in order to press multiple copies- I don't know enough about it.

Hi Joe,

yes, I'm using the Tascam 2488neo for this recording with a pair of Rode nt5. Two track recording for a good stereo mix. A bit reverb and mastering basics. You can create your own CD . To press multiple copies you need a glass master which can be produced by a professional audio production using your homemade CD.

Yes, I posted it in Aug/2009. This is an example of writing a piece in one hour. Sometimes it happens - my lucky moments. I'm not much into Samba but I love that style. Btw., it was the second vid with my new recording gear - so the quality is much better then on the early ones!

Ja, ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dieser Gitarre. Der akustische Klang begistert mich nicht, aber sie lässt sich sehr gut spielen - ideal für einen Stahlsaiten-Spieler der mal Nylon spielen möchte. Sie klingt über einen Verstärker sehr gut und war auch nicht so teuer (ca. 750 €). Am besten mal ausprobieren!

Ich hoffe du konntest alles verstehen!

Hast du das mit 2 Mics aufgenommen?

Da deine Gitarre ja scheinbar einen Pickup hat, würde ich ein Mic und den Pickup nutzen.

Das Mic vorm Schallloch sorgt für einen authentischen Klang, das Pickupsystem bringt die Brillianz und Details. Dazu sollte man beim Mic noch die Bässe etwas reduzieren, hörst ja selbst bei deiner Aufnahme, dass es ziemlich wummert:-) Natürlich hat man immer Einbußen dadurch, aber wat soll man machen :-)

Hi,

this guitar has solid top and laminated back and sides. It's not the best sounding acoustic nylon, but with the pickup played through an amp it sounds great. And as a recording instrument it works very fine too - as you can hear (hopefully). It's a matter of prize.

I think that's the best way. I've pointed one mic to the bridge and the other where the neck meets the body. You should try your own positions - maybe you find sweeter spots for your intentions.

Ab und zu dröhnt der Bass Anteil recht heftig.

Ich hatte auch den Eindruck, das manchmal gewisse Frequenzen überbetont und etwas verzerrt klingen. Ich vermute das hängt mit der Umwandlung bei YT zusammen. An den Mikrofonen liegt es jedenfalls nicht - die zeichnen das Signal sehr klar und differenziert auf. Manchmal vielleicht sogar zu deutlich, jedes Geräusch wird festgehalten. Es sind ausgezeichnete Mics zu einem fairen Preis - auch das Rode nt2a (toller Allrounder, auch für Gesang)

As you see, this is my new nylon solution - not such a high quality instrument as your wonderful Taylor but with great playability and access to the higher frets. And of course, the sound isn't that bad too ;-))
