I would just like to point out that everyone's reasons about the mats here are off. Yes, the bases and spots should catch them, and no, that doesn't always happen, even if you are a great stunter. Yes, the majority of these stunts are perfectly legal without a mat. However, that's besides the point because they flyers are doing twist cradles, and mats are always required for those no matter what state you're in. Even in college.

@aberquinnhco it's legal. the flyer's heads never go below their waist. and the flyer in the middle (who does the little flip thing) has the bases support the entire time.

And like seriously people, if your a real cheer leader you dont need mats. just dont be a retard and catch your flyer if shes falling. on my cheer team we tumble and stunt out side in the grass and on the track and the gym flor and the street. this team is so like tight and clean that they dont need mats. (oh im a base so i know what im talking about lol)

The people who are saying this is sooo unsafe, seriously dont know cheerleading and that you have to trust the people under you.

i agree with everyone who has mentioned mats.

It's a very good sequence but no matter how many times u do something, you cant guarantee it will always land safely no matter how amazing your bases are.

We had a girl on our squad last year who broke her neck because of stunting without mats when they were running a stunt group practice after training on the b.ball court. She is lucky enough to still be walking and stuff but will never cheer or tumble again.

Just something to think about.

@aleoliva actually, if something goes wrong and the bases and backspot dont catch the flyer, the can SERIOUSLY injur something... and what kind of coach would let that happen?? and yes it can happen there is always a possibilty of soomething happening and it has proven it can sometimes be fatal.... learn something
