I watched a lot of good movies: Raging Bull, Chinatown, Goodfellas, The Godfather, On The Waterfront, The Shawshank Redemption etc. But you are right, they don't make great movies anymore.
These two are the most refined "legends" outta that 60's-70's class. But there are other actors, pretty much of the same gravitas, who have bigger and more diverse bodies of work: Nicholson, Redford, Walken, Woods, Hoffman, Hopper, Sheen, Duvall. But yes, like most of you, they are my favourite two. With DeNiro, just slightly, edging out Pacino. But I do think Brando, was both of their illegitimate screen-father. Oh another great, from the Brando era, George C. Scott.
The original HEAT 1989 is much better , btw the real name of the original one is L.A. Takedown ( 1989) but the fame of the great actors of this crab is the only thing to be noticed not the whole movie
when u think of why they're treated like they are for what they do its pathetic. The real talent is the people who created the characters and write the films itself, these guys step in and pretend to be the guys, not really hard work is it? and if u think it is then ur a bit of a retard, i can sit here right now and pretend to be pacino, sure it wouldnt be that good, but give me a yrs training and ill nail it. then u can all kiss my ass and worship me
'Heat' is masterpiece of the 90's - interesting storyline, fantastic acting. Al Pacino is awesome but Robert De Niro made this film - phenomenal acting. Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, Diane Venora, Ted Levine were great too plus after this movie I became a huge fan of Ashley Judd and Amy Brenneman!
Heat is in my top 10 most favorite Heist films along with The Real McCoy, Heartbreakers, The Thomas Crown Affair, Entrapment, Confidence, Scorched, The Italian Job, Ronin

luck because, you could be the best dam actor on this planet, but if you dont go to the righ places, see the right people, you'll get no where, if you work hard and never give up, its bound to lead to something good, so my point is, all these guys do is imagine there a character, they read about the character, and play it how they think it should be played, but because they worked so hard, it paid off and they reap the rewards, acting is easy as fuck, gettin noticed is the hard part.
you know, all actors are overated. But thats what makes acting so brilliant. I mean look here both of these acting legends, but all you gotta do is imagine in your head your the character, say a gangster or w.e i can imagine it easy, hes gonna be nasty, violent, probably very loud, although some gangsters are more calm and quiet, id pick the loud one for a lasting impression, but you could get two young actors as good as these guys, its just luck and hard work that get you there.
@Brady2k10 What utter nonsense, complete and utter nonsense. Just imagine in your head and anyone can be as good as Pacino and DeNiro?, have the same iconic look?, the same charisma and screen presence?. Christ on a bike. Enjoy your cloud cookoo land :D
@1wibble2 yea cos its sooo hard to sit there and act as someone else after you've had 3 yrs training, so difficult i know, these "legends" are good at what they do, but are over rated for what they do, it aint that hard its just that they were the lucky chosen ones who worked slightly harder than the other ppl they were training with cookoo land? yea i think im the only one that isnt there yet, the rest of you are, people worship these two like they were gods and when u think of why cont.
my grammar isnt the best fella..you get my drift though
seen insomnia with al pacino???..very underrated pacino film..one of my faves along with serpico.de niros best has to be raging bull and taxi diver..legends
As much as I love both actors dearly, and have watched all their films, I must say that Marlon Brando is the all time greatest, along side Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. Both actors may possibly agree, more so Al, working with him in the Godfather, and looking up to him as a mentor.
@NeoStrike1 maybe in YOUR opinion but johnny depp can play any role in a movie! a criminal, a wierdo, a hero, ANYTHING!!!!!! And neither of those 2 have had good movies like tom hanks!
theyre not even in the same ballpark..these fuckers are heavyweights.the ali and frazier of cinema.they could hold theyre own against any actor of any generation past, present and in the future.johnny depp has put in a few good performances but hes smallfry compared to these..serious.i hope you were joking..i hope
hollywood sucks these days, they do not make GREAT movies anymore!
