@TNA796 nope when sully put together the band he spoke with Robbie about lead guitars cause he wasn´t capable of doing it himself and Robbie suggested Lee Richards... Sully did all the drums and vocals for the demo, Robbie did all the bass and Lee did all the leads... when they were ready to record the demo, sully invited tommy stewart for the drums and Tony was only part of the band after Lee abandoned due to personal issues...

I wouldn't say anyone is better than another. Shannon brings a cool rock groove to the mix, but Tommy was definitely more technical. Both are very tight and talented drummers. I honestly believe Godsmack arent as huge as they should be because their music doesnt translate well to CD/MP3 etc unless you happen to have your own club standard PA system to play it through. Their music is all about power and layers. I thought they were an average band til i saw em live in 2001 IIRC and they blew me the fuck away. Played the same stuff on a cd and it just didnt have the same groove/power, call it what you will. just my opinion though.

@MrRoach2007 in 1995 the original drummer was tommy stewart but he left the band before they recorded the first album... tony rombola and joe d'arco (drummer) joined the band in 1996 and together with sully and tommy merril they entered studio to record this song which became their first hit single...sully was never godsmack's drummer he gave up on that when he formed the band....as for brewtality's comment noone has more feeling than shannon when playing the drums. thats why sully wanted him
