the free version only allows you to go to knothole island in co-op. you won't be allowed to do the quests. you will have to buy the real version to get the quests.

Yes. It is located in the Gargoyles Trove below the bridge in Bowerstone. All 50 gargoyles must be found and shot before it can be reached.
