Unemployment is far higher now. Over 5 million people of working age on incapacity benefit. Close to 2 million unemployed. Countless illegal immigrants. An economy reliant on the service industry and credit. Thats where 11 years of New Labour have got us. The global credit crunch has come at just the right time for Labour. The wheels were already falling off our economy. Now they can blame their incompetent failings on global economics.
NaMgKCa, Labour have done very little to deal with the problems of the so-called Jobless 'Under-Class'. The jobs they've created have been largely in a bloated public sector, and 50% of all new jobs in 1997 have gone to European migrants. Labour like to pretend they've dealt with unemployment, but the reality is very different.
They wasted a decade of huge economic growth, not to mention their political dominance, and now welfare remains deeply flawed. Typical of New Labour; endless mediocrity!

New Labour basically adopted the policies of the SDP in the 1990s.

Funny how people forget half of those 3,000,000 had been put out of work by Labour in the late 70's.
But I guess it's politically incorrect to expose Labours flaws these days sadly.

oh well, at least they put 3 million people back in to work since 1997.
NaMgKCa 3 years ago
And yet we are about to have that many out of work again.
theredraven 3 years ago
