@MrStryperfan seabees pretty much do construction which is 1 of their main field they build new bases and like when a catastrophe like in japan happens they r over there and help people put and rebuild the cities... well at-least help..

Im in the dep process right now, i ship out to basic on jun 13, 2011 as a CM CB. excited...any CMs current or former give me alittle advice, thanks? I know we 6 month tours, but what is the ratio between overseas and US(home) tours? I've been on all the web sites so i have the just but looking for first hand CM experience. And how long is A-school? i heard CM a-school is 15 week program, and others say years and a half of school?

i enlisted last august as a BU .. and i have 5 weeks left until basic . i did NJROTC in high school so i got E-3 . im extremly ready to join the Seabee Community .. HOORAH

I was stationed at Port Hueneme many years ago. Served back when you could enlist in the SAM program. Best years of my life. Every kid should serve just to learn some self respect. You learn lessons you take with you your entire life.

I went in as a crypto tech since I scored well on my DLAB and remember my CO saying my name and Sea bees..I was like wtf is a sea bee thinking I was going in to interpret foreign messeges. Glad hey sent me to Port Hueneme.

you can enlist in the seabees you do not have to be an officer to be a bee. I am one right now but if you want an honest suggestion, go to school and then become a bee as an officer.

its mainly enlisted. when i get my diploma i may either enlist into the seabees or take training courses to be a Navy Diver. but yes its an enlisted field and im not sure if they offer officer positions

I applied for a nrotc scholarship, and desperately wanted to enlist as a seabee for a long time. My recruiter, dad, and USNSCC officers told me I should go rotc :/ Got a 30 on my ACT and Ive already been accepted to schools on civil engineering majors, but am waiting until January to hear about the scholarship. Can you offer some insight as to what Seabee officers do? My plan is to bitch and moan to the Navy until they let me be a combat Seabee officer. Screw offices and cubicles, haha.

Sorry to say, they do alot of admin work. They do alot of planing of what needs to be done for the day and stuff. But there are a lot of cool things seabee officers do. They are in high demand in Individual Augmentee. Thats where you go and deploy with the army or Marine Corps and give insight and survey to let them know what to do. I dont know one Seabee Officer (CEC Officer) that regrets the field they went into. It is the best Job you can get if your going to be an officer. Take care.

@Dodgeoffroadfreak Active duty.The answer to your ? is yes, however they are referred to as UDT Seabees, but you must earn a Seabee rate first(ie: SW-steelworker, UT- utilitiesmen, BU- builder, EA- engineering aid, CM- construction mechanic, EO-equipement operator, CE- construction electrician), boot, A-school, then if your lucky you can be assigned to SEAL's or a boat unit. Last words, all those promises a recruiter will make to you...GET IN WRITING

1983,, my uncle (who is now in his mid 40's) was a seebee, in okinawa he developed gang green in his toes, they were amputated. i am very proud of my uncle. im proud to call him a navy veteran
