Hi @amy11190 i tried making this according to youur tutorial.. ohh btw great tutorial... :) anyways.. my second batch I have reached the color we're looking for and when i test it on the spoon and try to stretch i think for my it really stretches...so i am confident that its perfectly cooked. but when using it.. after one or 2 application it becomes really stickky and it sticks on my skin and hard to came off.. is there something wrong with my paste? I hope you can help me...
@AmatuALLAH92: if you get some on a spoon and let it cool a little before testing it on some arm hair? just spread it over it and pull, it should come off like normal wax.
I have tried this like 4 times and it didn't turn out well at all. i used the specified quantities and cooked while stirring on med once it started boiling and lowered the heat and kept stirring until it turned golden brown not burnt i removed it from the stove and poured it into a glass bowl to cool. upon cooling i applied it but it won't stick to my skin and it's not pulling off hair as much. help what am i doing wrong. Thanks
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN USING THE ELECTRIC STOVE DIRECTIONS, JUST IGNORE THE TIMES COMPLETELY FOR THE GAS BURNER DIRECTION IF U DON'T HAVE ONE. I read through them both and was confused about the times and ended up burning the wax :-( ugh. I'm the type to walk away from the stove when cooking .DON'T DO THAT WITH THIS AT ALL!!! BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN. I will try again hopefully better luck.
Ya I just use 2 tablespoons of b.sugar 1 tablespoon of honey and no water because it gets too watery. Pop it into the microwave for like 25-30 secs and put it in the freezer for like 2-3 minutes to cool down a tad. Hopefully it works! :]
lol It's brown sugar. That's why it's so dark. If I burned it (which I have before) it would turn hard, brittle, and unusable. This one worked quite well for me
@saradogg95 white sugar does NOT work ..i reccomend brown sugar..and if you have it LIGHT brown sugar..white sugar gets really hard, and it is unusable
I had to look that one up but it says it's a type of tangerine. That's citrus so it should work. I can't guarantee it will work though, I've sure never tried it!
so i'm still afraid of trying it since i might fail =(
and yeah, i'm still confused with how will i get the hairs out. They said that I need to use a muslin thingy, but i don't know where to get those. should i really use that?
white sugar is only white because of a dye. it's a chemical and is bad for the body (as most unnatural chemicals are) which is why we onyl use brown sugar in my house.
They use sulphur dioxide. The same stuff volcanoes emit. To be honest, I don't know how much that'd affects your skin. I haven't looked it up but the things is I'm pretty sure that's considered an irritant to your skin and of cause, worse to be ingested. Hmm...I had to some research myself actually and I only just realised that I should stay away from brown sugar as well.
oh whoops... i pasted 2 other links so you can look it up yourself but I dont see it. apparently brown sugar is white sugr but with the molasses added back to it. so maybe raw brown sugar o raw sugar is the best. if i rememer later on, i'll paste it. just off to my classes for now. also, u can just google stuff up. try searching for 'white sugar dye' or 'brown raw white sugar' and read through some stuff. if u notice, some sugar sites will also claim there's nothing it. Lies. lol.
About every three minutes, put a tiny bit of wax on a spoon to test it. Run cold water over it till it's cool. Then stretch it with your fingers or try spreading it on your wrist. If it spreads well and pulls hair off when you pull it off, it's done.
Thanks Amy. I made some late last night in secret. LOL It worked! A little messy though. I poured it onto wax paper to cool down. As a test run, I tried it on my lower belly. OUCH! i have blood spots and bruises which I'm sure will go away. I'm hesitant to doing my legs because of all the pain. Thanks again.
I'm glad you had no problems cooking it. If it's causing red spots, try working a little water into the wax ball. Just a tiny bit though or it might become unusable.
I just used the recipe I put in the info area on my other vids. Most likely u didn't cook it long enough or u put too much liquids in and that's why it was watery.
how did u get it to be all solid-ish. when i made mine it was completly watery and i could not use it like how you did in your other video. reply please. thanks!
well it depends on what kinda sugar you use. in this vid i used brown sugar for the first time and it came out really dark. If you've seen my other vid then u can see how light it is when you use white sugar. And it is very sticky to use. It won't be firm. That's why using a fast flicking method for the waxing part is good because then it doesn't get stuck to your skin.
okay I absolutely failed. Nothing worked for me. Firsly my sugar was all clear and see-through. And as I understand it should be light brown or brown white or something, shouldnt it? Maybe that's because I was mixing it while boiling? Secondly I couldnt make it into paste, it was all sticky. Maybe you could do another video including everything from the very beginning to the end, when it is ready to use? I would be very thankful!!
I made it but it came out so thick that it was basically unusable because it was stuck to the bowl...

I bought a lemon lime juice, it's really juice though. It's in a bottle. and it means that 1/4 cup lemon is just a little amount right?
kyle1311lol 2 years ago
The lemon juice I use comes in a bottle too. As long as it's pure it will work. 1/4 cup isn't that much about 50 mL
Amy11190 2 years ago
how many grams is one cup? just to be sure of the amount .
kyle1311lol 2 years ago
Granulated sugar: 1 cup = 200 grams
