  • I'm gonna be honest here: I like Faye a lot better than I like Julia, because Faye actually has character depth. Julia was a static character, and it kind of seemed like she played both Spike and Vicious. Still, her death scene was a powerful moment, and I acknowledge the impact her presence made on Spike's life. But...I'm a Faye fan. She and Spike have too much chemistry to ignore.

  • ill be totally honest, i dont see what was so special about julia. she was just some enigmatic person to me, nothing wonderful or outstanding about her as to why spike would love her. can someone explain why they think julia was so great? not trying to offend but she really didnt seem much more than a mary sue to me.

  • @sofymo

You could argue that that is one of the reasons to love, or maybe be fascinated by her character. Spike has so much love for her, and her character in many ways drove the plot of the story, that you can't help but wonder about her. Also, the fact that Spike loves her--and he is a very popular character--could also sway many to love her character as well.

  • @sofymo Love is just awkward. =(

  • @sofymo Because someone doesn't show up she's all of a sudden a mary sue? Wow the internet has used that term so much now people are using it wrong!

She's the basically the entire plot, yo. You don't have to see her, it's actually better having her be this enigmatic entity driving this whole thing. To have that tension at the end and then to lose her like she was only a dream. It's non-typical, yeah, but that's what makes it good.

  • @xxxanimepopxxx alright alriiiiiight, i settled this with people months ago :P i get that she drives the plot and spike's life, and her death was a very powerful moment, i just really wish she had some depth. i don't typically like characters without depth at all, which may be why i'm not that into things not typical in shows. idk. i still like faye more

  • @sofymo I like Faye more too, though. No question about that.

  • I always kept missing the last episodes for this (it replays over and over on Adult Swim). I finally caught it after like 2 years of looking, and when I saw Julia get show I cried because I waited two years for Spike's happy ending that never came.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO julia

  • the person who released the birds was like,"that'll be $485 plus tax..... you gonna pick up the tab?"

  • a part of me died when she did... because she represented like unattainable love to Spike, the sort of love that drives a man crazy only once or twice in a lifetime. Losing such a love... I can totally see why Spike gave up on life afterwards.. i can totally see it all, without ever having gained it myself. Ya gotta carry that weight...

  • Perhaps the only death in anime I actually cared for...

  • NNNNOOOO julia cant die he loved her

  • Tetsuko

EXCEL SAGA CHARACTER. Although killed by an army officer in episode 3,His/her death scene in episode three is a spoof of Julia's death from Cowboy Bebop - both characters have long blond hair, die in their lover's arms, die from a bullet wound shown in the same dramatic, slow-motion fashion, and mutter inaudible words as they die. His/her character design to Maetel of Galaxy Express 999.

  • Her death was beautiful.., even though she was annoying.

  • @robynsegg how could she be annoying, she appears in two episodes in the series ...

  • @RUSSxT: Please see the "plain glass of milk" reference, that I gave to "thugnificant". Thank you.

  • @robynsegg she wasn't annoying. Christ, what the hell is with you people that automatically think that if a character is in love the other main character they get labeled as "annoying". -_- Psh...whatever. She only appeared in like 2 damn episodes, but her death was beautiful at least.

  • @RockaWear2183: She was annoying in the fact that there was NOTHING to her. To me, she was as plain and ordinary as a glass of warm milk & I never understood why other characters, (Jet, Fay, Gren, Annie) made such a damn fuss over her except her physical beauty. Spike & Vicious had an excuse-- they fucked her. But in the end what was she really? & What's the deal w/ You Tubers that can't stand a difference of opinion. It's mine so BACK OFF. It's anime (nay) cartoons. Get over it.

  • @robynsegg Seeing how they left out alot about her, it sometimes makes a bigger difference when its up to you think about the type or person she was

  • @sicaelegy: I admit AS did leave out a lot & she wasn't in the manga @ all, but even so, she still seemed dull. When I get a chance I'll check out the unedited version.

  • @robynsegg

I think the creators did that purposely. Julia is an ordinary woman, loved by Spike. She doesn't have some special attributes or whatever, the fact is, Spike loved her, just like other humans love each other even though we may not have anything special about us.

Everyone mentioned was friends with her, or had some connection to her and liked her. I'm not anything special, yet I still have good friends. I think Faye was impressed with Julia because of Spikes devotion.

  • @robynsegg Y u mad bro? Lol It's just anime,so get out of your basement.

  • Please reread the last 4 sentences in my response to you.

  • @robynsegg

I'm kind of curious how you find her annoying. She was given...very little screen time. I can see why someone might be indifferent, since she's a minor character. But she doesn't really ring an "annoying" bell. :-/

  • @dancingcarrotdotcom: I found her to be as interesting as a glass of warm milk. Can't a person have an opinion on YT w/o getting bent out of shape over nothing? I didn't like her. Period. End of story. If you did, great.

  • @robynsegg

Lol, chill. I was just curious, bb.

  • @dancingcarrotdotcom: Sorry if you didn't like my response. I thought you going to be like the others who responded earlier. Look @ their comments. They got upset because I insulted "their Julia"-- an uninteresting character that was in Bebop for what... 2 episodes (?), despite being talked about somewhat heavily throughout the show. Main & minor characters talk about her being this "mysterious haunting beauty". But I didn't see it. I got tired of explaining myself. You would, too.

  • @robynsegg How the hell was she annoying?.......

  • @NefariousDreary: Please read my original response to Rockawear2183. Thank you.

  • @robynsegg She was a strong, soothing, kind, beautiful-natured woman. She too was an awsome gunslinger like Spike. Spike loved her because she was pretty much his other half. And people are gonna give you their opinion as well because alot of people love the character.......some more extreme than others.......

  • @robynsegg Okay I don't know what your problem is but I never indicated that I was a fan of Julia. Here's the deal, I just said that I was just a little irritated by the fact that some people would critisize a character just because they get involved with the main character of a series and yet, people like you would bitch about them not being in the story before. Personally, I believe the writer had planned for that to happen. That's ALL I was saying, so you can chill the fuck out.

  • wtf the saying...

  • @bananabread119 I could say the same thing for you.

  • @tnpan

Okay if I write a comment a yr ago please don't respond.

  • @bananabread119 And if you're going to spell like a complete idiot, don't respond either, you degenerate.

  • @tnpan

haha This isn't an APA college format paper, this is fucking Youtube you idiot! lol

  • @bananabread119 I know this is youtube, but that doesn't mean you can't look less like a tool.
