  • Where's your shop?

  • Dude, great vid cheers bro

  • Great video!

Got a quick question for you...

I bought a Okuma Salina II spinning reel.

If I'm right handed is it better that I wind with my lefty or right hand?

    Thanks

  • @vjanda1 its all personal preference mate, I am also right handed but prefer to wind with my right hand.

  • fantastic video. i have been jigging for a while now with success but your coaching will help me take my jigging to the next level.

  • jigging is for people that have arms. some of us dont have the power to fight any fish due to injurys.. makes it a one sided sport i reckon!

  • Good article dude. Simple straightforward and good info. Only thing I'd suggest is you should have closed with a pic of the fish

  • well presented, easy to follow.. nice one guys! I've been looking for tips on spin reel jigging as I'm a lefty and find fishing easier winding on the left.

    Thanks.

  • You are very good champion! only from you I could learn the jigging technique. Thank you.

  • awesome video!! Bravoღღღღღ

  • Yeehaa panmure new zealand ! this is my favorite shop in NZ ! Tony is really cool !

  • well done my friend...i'm from Greece & i jig about two years know.the only fish i cought are 2 black groupers not havier from 5kgr..what i want to ask u is with that technique u saw us what kind of jig's do u use.....i mean short jig, medium or long jig's..i use medium & long but i don't know men what happens all the time...i've spend too many hours & i've just starting thinking to quit!!hope u answer...

  • @xaxrisx thanks for your question. i use all shapes and sizes of jigs with this technique mate but with longer jigs I tend to use a higher stroke and speed up a little. With shorter jigs I tend to use a shorter stroke with the rod as the jig generally being centre weighted will have a lot of action. If the fishing is generally tough, i will mix it up a lot with speed/pauses and height of stroke until something works. Cheers.

  • Thanks!

  • awesome vid guys! Easy to follow - Thats me this weekend in the BOI with ma new setup! cheers, Dan

  • hay man good vid im looking for a real with the 6/1 ratio not 4/1 i like the faster real and it needs lots of drag thanks mate keep the vids coming

  • good vvork mate..i'll try..

  • Pretty good vid bro except you were driving on the wrong side of the road! Remember, Red, Right when Returning!

  • i my self actually think that jigging is better then the old bait and sinker but it can mess up your shoulder though if you dont do it properly

  • Handy video thanks, We operate a Charter boat to White Island and have a lot of fun introducing newbies to this sport. Surprising though that with the right technique you get a lot more hookups but some of our best fish including a Blue Marlin have been caught by guys who just cant get it right.

  • Well made vid man. Ive been jigging for about a year and its all we do now. Catches all kinds of species, grouper, jacks, snappers, king mackrel, tuna, etc. Funnest times ive ever had is jigging and hooking into a freight train!

  • Awesome mate, yeah the hookup is the best part - especially when the fish are angry :)

  • hey mate, my mate and I are still at college living in Auckland, travelling to Whangamata for 10 days on the 3rd of Jan 2010. Do you know anyone who would be kind enough to show us where to go or possibly take us out for a fish? Thanks bro.

  • mate that was a brilliant video. 10 out of 10.

I look forward to seeing more of your stuff.

  • very useful! guys the motion comes mainly from the strength of the forearm or the upper arm?

  • thanks mate, it depends on how you grip the rod/reel and whether or not your elbow is kept in our outward. Its generally your bicep working most of the time especially when your elbow is in close to your body along with a bit of your front shoulder muscles. If your elbow is out then you feel it a lot more in your front and middle shoulder muscles.

  • awesome stuff guys keep up the great work!

  • thanks mate!

  • Hey dude, were you using braid? If so could you please tell me what size and type it was, thanks

  • Gidday mate, yes we only use braid for jig fishing. there are a number of good braids available in most tackle stores. The brand which I like and use the most is Daiwa Saltiga Boat Braid and in PE3, PE4, PE5, PE6 and PE8 depending on which set I am using. Thanks

  • Great vid mate what rod and reel combo are you using?

  • thanks, the overhead set is a Shimano Ocea Jigger 2000P NR and the rod is a custom built New Zealand made Synit Venom V250. The spin set is a Shimano Stella 8000FA and the rod is a custom built New Zealand made Synit Grey Ghost 333.

  • Awesome video Josh, nice work buddy.
