I HAVE JUST HEARD THIS ON BBC RADIO 6, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, LISTENING TO YOU TUBE STUFF AT THE SAME TIME, QUITE NICE, THEN I HEARD ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SCOTTISH TUNES EVER, THE DARK ISLAND (LAND OF MY CHILDHOOD), RECORDED AT THE END OF THIS YOU TUBE VERSION OF THE SONG. I THOUGHT MY EARS WERE GOING CRAZY. A NICE ADD ON TO THE SONG.
@edmund184 Helen of Troy is an album by John Cale, the last of three albums for Island Records.
This album came out without the consent of Cale, who considered that the tapes were not finished. After shipping the first pressings Island Records replaced the track "Leaving It Up to You" with "Coral Moon because the former song mentioned Sharon Tate, wife of film director Roman Polanski, who was murdered in 1969 by the Charles Manson gang.
@hagarjamal1 That's interesting. This version is very different to the one on the Island Years. There's is no trumpet and obviously no beat. Can you tell me which album THIS version is on? Thanks.
@edmund184 , this is actually from "Music For A New Society" (the "Seducing" version is the "Helen Of Troy" version).
If you can find this album, grab it. It contains the song "Sanities" which is the source for the quote Alan Moore used at the end of "Watchmen": "It would be a stronger world, a stronger, loving world to die in."
