he sounds pretty shitty everytime hes doing a solo live...in fact, the only time i've personally heard him sound awesome was in studio versions...idk, thats just me though
i like jimmy's live stuf better, he was just sloppy alot because of his heroin addiction from 76-78, then frequent relapses through to 1980, and alchoholism, then he started heavily again after bonzos death, his stuff 77 and earlier was fairly clean,
yeah unfortuntley he got pretty bad.. I went to see Jimmy Page with his band in the early 80's at Irvine medows and I had to leave.. They had to bring out a fuckin chair for his drugged out ass to sit on while he played and all the sound was unintelligable.. If thats a word.. I was just really dissapointed.. as a kid growing up looking up to these guys as guitar Gods.. Really sad.. I hope he has his shit together now if nothing else for his own health.
fair enuff maybe he was a good guitarist an got fucked on drugs or wotever but just bcus u take 2 or how ever many years off don't make u suck that much lol even when they had time off don't mean he neva played the guitar, maybe it's just not my generation but i dnt c wot all this fuss is bout, Dime all the way for me dudes!
in all fairness, taking an extended period of time from playing guitr (like two years) can have a severe effect on your playing. Page was depressed, disillusioned, strung out, and extremely unhealthy in the early 80's. He was never a remarkably technical guitar player, so two years was enough to push him down in terms of ability for a long time. He has arguably never gotten it back. But he is still a great guitar player

i hear so much about page being the best guitarist an all that before my time thou but anyway this is the 4th vid iv searched an every1 was shit and in every1 people trying to defend him but hey if he is that good i wouldnt have to search like fuck just to find a good performance of this solo would i?
that is true atm hes prolly on drugs and page doesnt know wat hes doin he makes this stuff up every solo he changes live rather its alot or not hes makin up crap like hes always done but now he things hes doin good probably but he isnt as u hear but to jimmy hes playin like god.
No. I'm sorry, but I can't agree with you. Even stopping for two years I bet Page has played/practised almost every single day, for sure. And the proof is he didn't loose his finger skills, speed and on. Just lost his concentration, natural balance, and all this because of the heavy heroin adiction. No one can play awesome solos from his soul, if there's a heroin problem. I have heard some good ones within 77'-80', but the major part is not at his level. This is just my opinion.
wow... you must be young. im guessing 12 now right? and EVERY great guitarist was on drugs in the 60s-70s. Hendrix got his REAL start at Woodstock... if you've ever heard about that at all..
lol yeah i'm 12 add another 11 years, just cus every great guitarist was on drugs don't take away the fact he sounds shit!!! u cant admit it cus u obviously like him sooo much but i find it hard to find a vid of him when he sounds good soz to offend u all but it's just tuff shit suck it up :)
The curse of being one of the best bands in the world is that people will get their hands on every good, medium, and poor performance and crucify their poor performances. Secondly, most of their bootlegs are "signal tracks" which mean they are coming straight from the board. They are playing off the travel of sound, not what is coming directly off the board. Yeah this sounded pretty shitty, but it is not what the audience heard. Lastly, this was their first show in literally 2years!

Man, I thought Stairway was a little weak at their recent reunion gig, but it was a lot better than this version. Surprising that Plant and Page sounded better at age 60 than at age 30.
I agree. I think Plant's lower register sounded good for that period of time. His first two solo albums are very good because of his deeper voice. While I love the early "higher-pitched" Plant in the earlier days, it wouldn't have fit on In Through the Out Door.
a lot of people say his voice got a lot lower after that surgery thing but personally i liked the change.... not ALL of it but i dont think he did bad at knebworth or anything, hence my name lol and yes i no that is voice DID get lower but i just think that he sang good on certain songs with the new voice
no lol in that he hurt his ankle...broke it i think.... im talking about in 1979 he had toncilitis or whatever and had surgery on his throat and it got lower... im not sure but i think knebworth was the first show since the sergury
beileve it or not is still is up but i haven't found it in a while i found it once just marked as Stairway To Heaven....it is up but i don't want 2 give alway the thing.....send me a message and i will send the link 2 the video of the 4th but i don't want 2 get those guys in trouble
watch awesome tibetan guitarist (from switzerland?!), he will blow you away! just look for "purtag" (his name)

Well, Page was on heroin back then. His playing and overall health has drastically improved since then.

I also think Plant's singing was better at the reunion gig last December. I don't really care for the way he sings the climax in this version.
