I looked for this song for years and finally found it on Napster when it was big. With all the songs to made it out of the 80's and still be popular today, I can't believe this wasn't one of them.
The Clocks are playing at Flicktober fest at the Sedgwick County Zoo in few weeks, along with some other 80's Wichita bands Dogs?, Film@11 and headliner the Rainmakers. I'm going!
In other news :) I had the privelege of playing (guitar) in a band with guitarist Lance for a period of time maybe 8 years ago. Great guy, talented guitar player.
I can't believe it. you are still out there. Its melody from the delta delta delta house of 1980-1984....i love the piano player...remember the pear necklace...?
this brings back so many memories...Lisa my pledge daugheter where are you?
Should mix the good stereo track that lacked the promo with this classic vintage promo since I can barely hear the damn thing! I had it on Beta and the Betamax deck had an instance where that point in the tape got "eaten" so though not broken, the recording suffered damage. To make it to digital would be even worse I fear. Last I looked for the video here though, musta been over a year since it was not to be found! THANKS so much for retrieving it!
I loved this song back in the best decade ever, the 80's. Wish this vid was in stereo because the song is so good, but I guess you can't have everything.
This song was on the 1980 KY102 Homegrown album. The KC radio station asked local/regional bands to send demo tapes. The ones that were chosen were put out on the compilation album. In 1980 the bands that made the album all played at the Uptown Theater in KC. I remember seeing the Clocks at one of those shows, very high energy, especially the lead singer. They reminded me of Loverboy, for some reason.
AWESOME!!!!! Steve was my hubbys cousin. We miss him alot. His Mom Lora passed this year. Steve wrote this for his Mom. Thank you for posting. We love it.
The Clocks came out with a remake of the album called The Black Box.
They were personal friends of mine and we are still in touch. Lance, the guitar player is a great guy and very talented in his playing. It is tough to play just what is needed.
I saw this band many times.. I lived close to Wichita where they played out of. The lead singer went on to play in a band called The Dog and they were great too. Seeing this brings back lots of memories from my college days.
I have this 45 and saw the video one time on MTV. About a month ago, ater searching, I even found n mp3 of the song online. very underrated song IMOP:
I can't stop playing this. I always loved the song but I had no idea there was a video for it and the VIDEO is amazing too ! Thank you SO much for posting this. CLOCKS were amazing. Does anyone know if they ever made a follow up album ???
@josiahcamp When I taped the video, it was on free TV, likely Friday Night Videos or something, I did not get the name of the band, until YOU TUBE! hahaha
I was in Jr, High when this song came out. WQMF 95.7 in Jeffersonville, Indiana (Across the Ohio river from Louisville, KY) played this song. I last heard it around the late 1980's, they would play bands like this and Donnie Iris, etc after midnight. When I found it last year on Youtube I about wet myself! Oh, nostalgia! Great hook and from what I gether via the net, these guys were a killer live band with energy and a big local following. Cheers!
Remember this on the radio kyys 102.1 kansas city 1982, wonder what kind of analog synth they were using on this song, it gives the song an awesome kick, also that girl was too hot, wow
I remember them from Wichita as well, my dad knew them and he brought home one of their tapes. My sisters and I played it over and over!! Brings back many memories especially since my father Roger is no longer with us...
well,if you lived the 80's in kansas then you would know these guys! i played in the heat in the 80's and followed these guy's! hey,i was a huge fan of the clocks! checkout my link, i wish they would put together video's of other songs with picture's! someone need's to tell jerry,to get on it!
@moonbass2 Check back next month as I'm supposed to be getting access to the collection of a friend of mine. Hoping for some more fun stuff, although her taste wasn't as "eclectic" as mine.
These guys were a regular gig at Brother's in Manhattan KS. especially on the "Drink and Drown" promo nights. This video really doesn't show them in their true form. They rocked! When the shakeup happened at CBS, they lost their support. Fools Face was another great band around the same time as were Steve, Bob, and Rich, Powerglide, The Zoo, The Clique, Artattax.
@fewinhibitions True, if a record label did not support their own acts, the relationship usually dissolves. This has happened to plenty of artists. They can only do so much themselves, and the record label needs to do the promo work!
I remember this song from my high school days. I lived in the Kansas City area and this song received a lot of air play as the band was from Kansas. The girl in the video is hot in an 80s porn star kind of way!
I always loved this tune; came out around the time I got my first electric guitar, and I loved pounding out C-G-F power chords. This video is old-school MTV - goofy, low-budget, and FUN!! Thanks for sharing, morrisonAV!
This is quite a find! Saw these guys a lot at a place in Galena, KS, called Sgt. Pepper's. It's too bad this video couldn't have had some live footage mixed in, or just performing in a sound studio. Jerry had such a strong presence as a bass player/lead singer. We had a number of bands that came through that area that had their own production (Fools Face, The Misstakes, Sneak Preview (later King's X), but the Clocks' lighting and sound really stood out. Thanks for this post!
I AM FREAKING OUT! I was a 7th grader when this song was played on WQMF 95.7 in Jeffersonville, Indiana circa 1981...I have tried for YEARS to find this song and here it is...I AM FREAKING OUT!!!!
Awesome! I have been looking everywhere for this video. This is the record company's influence on The Clocks. Still a cool video but believe me when I tell you they were raw, down and dirty when it came to their LIVE shows!
Can't believe it!! One of my favorite songs from 1982 and still ahve this on vinyl. Lived in Kansas City at the time and it was played alot on the radio then...GREAT SONG!
I've known these guys since I was a kid, they were more than awesome, we miss Steve R.I.P. I talk to Lance at least once a week. The Clocks did Wichita Kansas proud and don't forget the 5th Clock Greg Delancy. The most underated band in rock-n-roll history.
@sndtek I haven't seen it since my Beta deck ate the tape, guess it was hungry, but dammit, I hate losing fantastic stuff like this, whenever, where ever. Thanks to YT, and finally, everyone chipping in to save this era in music and video!!
