Finally, some love for the best member of the X-Men!
Hate him or love him, the X-Men would be gone long ago without Scott's leadership! Is he perfect? Far from it! But that's what makes him so much better than any other X-Men characters!
Whats great about this is that our introductions to Rouge, Storm and Gambit were of them beating up the Sentinel, but then getting blasted away. So our introduction to Cyclops is him being a badass and decapitating the Sentinel. Epic!
@JannieRosen theres an even better scene in astonishing x men where cyclops says he wants a sentinel off his lawn and then takes off his visor and blows it up. then even logan acknowledged his strength by saying "every now and then summers...i remember why youre still in charge." thats the best cyclops moment
I think everyone likes Cyclops, but their fanboyism for Wolverine just overcasts it. Pesonally, I'm more of a Cable fan before anyone else. Whenever you saw him in an episode, you knew it was going to be epic.

Well, Cyclops was ok in the movies. James Marsden played him really well. It was more how they wrote the character. He was still pretty badass in some scenes. Like when he freakin owned all the guards and Deathstryke, that was pretty sweet.
not really,Cyclops is a Master in Close Combat,and the best tactical X-man ever besides the optical powers,and he can see with his eyes closed (Spatial Awareness)...
yeah in wikipedia appears that in one time cyclops almost kill wolverine if jean grey wouldnt interfier cyclops would kill him and cyclops is a profesional in hand to hand combat and even in hand to hand he can beat dangerous oponents such as wolverine sabretooth and ghost rider

(check comic books, I'm quite sure if u are as fan as you say you'd know which numbers I'm talking about) your argument about the fact that cyclops is helpless without his optic blast has no bases, it's like saying that wolverine without his powers is helpless, means to me u have much to learn.

There's an episode from 70s series where kitty was afraid that nightcrawler burned up in space on a ship reentry but he teleported too far in nick of time into a locker had smoke and fire on him from the blast.
hey suavepanamican that's 1992. Hand drawn key frames with overseas third world asian kids drawing the filler frames for smooth animation. Excellent quality for its day. This scene's actually the 1st or 2nd episode or 2nd 1/2hour of the series premier. Still my favourite version of all the x-men toons.
Because without the visor, he can't control the beam. He only takes it off when he has to destroy everything in his path. If he had taken it off in that scene for example, he would have destroyed the Sentinal, the mall behind it, and everyone inside.

nice scene, but the inconsistenciies crack me up. in some scenes cyclops can trigger his blasts without touching the visor and in others he cant.

You're not alone, he actually has a large fanbase but those that hate him are extremely vocal for some reason (ie. rivalry with Wolverine).
